April 22nd Pull in NC
April 22nd Pull in NC
April 22nd is the date the next pull is scheduled for in newland, nc.
To those who don't know this event is heavily tainted with fords and chevys, and the ignorant drivers to go along with them. It's not that there is anything wrong with the ovals and bowties but their owners attitudes just make them targets.
It was all the greatest ever when Mark took home the diesel class last month and shut them up. He was one of three Dodges in a field of 25+ trucks.

Hello
We will be having dyno/drag raceing down here off the coast that week end.
When will the next pull be? Also where is Newland at I looked on a road atlass and couldn't find it. I'd proably be going north on 17.
I was talking to TimVa this past weekend I think this is the pull he was talking about.
Do you have a set of rules they go by. I would like to attend.
See Ya

I don't know of too many specific rules, it's a fairly grass roots style event. From what I understand you are not allowed to hang weights off the front of the truck and it must be road legal with a current inspection, tags, and so forth. Other than that it has just been speculation from other people who attend.
Newland is the name of the track and not the town it's in. It is just north of Elizabeth City, a few miles from Elizbeth City MX Park. If you want directions pm timinva he can tell you exactly how to get there. It's a good time but be prepared to stay out all night, pull starts a 7 and the diesel don't usually go till about 11 or so.

I'm planning on being there. I live over in Currituck County, although I am in Greenville currently going to ECU. I should also be at the dyno day that morning. Its going to be a good time. I heard the pull on the 1st ended in a good pull off between a ford and a dodge. I missed that one.
Papa Smurf: If you head north on 17, and stay the whole way up to Elizabeth City, then keep on 17 like you are going to VA, its about 11 or 12 miles north of Elizabeth City. You take a left at a stoplight if you are heading north that says "Morgans Corner."
Here is their website: http://www.newlandpullers.com/
The NTPA pull June 30th-July 1st is VERY good, lots of the big guys come out that pull on the circuit. Most of the guys that are from around that area pull in the national circuit anyhow, so we get to see a lot of them at most pulls.
Suppposidly, you are not supposed to have any mods done to your stock truck. There are a few powerjokes over there that pull that have multiple chips, nitrous, propane, water/meth injection, bigger turbos, etc, which make it hard for the ones that are mostly stock. I know this stuff because I know a few of the stock class diesel pullers, I live less than a mile down the road from one of the powerjokes that has above listed stuff done.
Hope to see some CTDs pulling there.

I never heard you had to have your truck stock. I know several of the powerjoke pullers as well. Several of these unsavory characters through such a fuss last year because Mark(white dodge 3500) had nitrous on his truck and was winning almost everytime he pulled. He has since removed the bottle in favor of some different programming and I believe he makes more power now without the nitrous than he did last year.
I would imagine that you would only here about these "rules" if more built Dodges show up and start to clean up on the whole class. They are so ford biased I get frustrated just thinking about it. Brand loyalty is one thing but they take it to a whole new level. I can appreciate a nice looking ford or chevy but some of these characters just won't shut up about how great the fords are, how many recalls have the 6.0s had now?
At any rate the event as a whole is a great time and worth the trip.

this was a good pull last event ,was impressed by the dodge that one and also the 06 reg cab psd that placed well with just street tires.i was told you cant run nos or lp anymore because of a nos backfire that happened ....i wont make the 22nd event but hope to pull this summer

Thanks for all the good info.
Do you have a schulde for the year of when the pulls go?
My wife will be gone for 6 months come June I might just put my truck up on the goose neck and pull it up there and then pull a 2500 and a 3500 both of them are pretty strong running stock trucks. See sig below.
I can pull at night sleep on the trailer and drive home the next day. If I break a truck I just pull it home with the other one.
I would say it is only 2 1/2 3 hours away from home and sounds like a good time.

Chris, the schedule is up on that website I posted.
And yes, squirrelchaser, I agree, if they would actually do something with the diesel class(it will come sooner or later), we could have a good pull, and have a couple of different diesel classes.
Is the white diesel you're referring to a dually? If so, its pretty bad, and it wins most of the time when its there.
2006 Scheduled Pulls
April 1st April 22nd May 27th
National - NTPA Pull June 30th - July 1st
July 22nd August 26th
September 23rd
October 7th October 28th

Its another $10 to pull(may be included on ticket price, not real sure, I dont pull, but some of my buddies do).

Chris(PapaSmurf)-if you ever decide to go to one, maybe I can meet you out here on 17, its only 16 miles from my house. It comes across 33 at Chocowinity. I'd be glad to meet you there, and take you directly to the pull.

Hope to see you there. Did you pull last time? Also what color is your truck?
The man who owns the 99 Dually is Mark Parker. He will probably be at the NC dyno and drag racing with me that weekend. We have to let someone else win the pulls sometimes. With a change of tires he should be pretty competitive on the dyno and drag strip also. Tim
Thanks
I drive past that every time I go to Va and points north.
I pulled up the web site, sounds like a pretty good pull.
I will be attending just not sure when. We have a couple of old tractors that I might tote up there just to see how they do. One is a old Case DC brand new back in 1949.
