'99 7.3 vs the CTD
My buddy was cutting grass next to the street yesterday, and I crept up behind him and engulfed him in a big sooty cloud, a pretty nice score for me. Now he wants to run the trucks, he's got a 99 psd with an edge/attitude. I'm about to have my pump wire tapped for my comp, and considering my other mods, he should be riding in my smoke, correct? I laid it on pretty thick, and he's fired up to try them now.
I wonder how I'd do against another buddy's stock '07 6.7 ctd. Its pretty peppy. I hate to beat on my poor old truck too much, but it would make me proud to roll some smoke on both of them. I'm anxious to see how it will perform with the wire tapped.

As soon as you pierce that wire, the expense begins. Good luck.

I would be a tad worried. All that fuel and the stock charger? HOT!
Any 7.3's I have seen with stacked boxes, intakes, exhausts can only muster 300 RWHP. Fuel system is the limit there.

On the VP pumped trucks, the larger fueling comes from piercing a wire going to the pump that changes the fuel pumps internal duration. Without it the max fueling is around 60-70 hp, after that its as much as the pump can provide.
Most times its a back breaker, I have a good friend that ran without the wire tap with out problems for years, then tapped the wire and crashed the pump in a month..
