I ran 50 lbs all year pulling last year with stock head bolts....thats 50lbs for about 20 seconds straight with egt's in the 1700 area
When I removed the gasket about a month back there wasnt even a hint of any cylinder leakage on the gasket.
So I would say studs are not needed in the 40psi area but they couldnt hurt either!

The 3rd Gens seem to be able to take more abuse in the head gasket area...most don't get o-ringed until past 65-70psi.
Of course my headgasket/bolts don't owe me a thing...they've hung in a lot longer than they should have

I can't figure out how folks burn their motors up on these 3rd gens.

I know that I would easily be in the high 12's right now if I got a set of slicks. I ran a best of 13.45 1/4mi. about a month ago on a stock LP. and stock tires. I hit the dyno #'s with the Walbro and stock turbo. I thought about getting a set, but this is my daily driver, and I dont race it much. besides, I really like the stealth look it has too much. Nobody outside of a lifted/modded diesel that could see my stickers would know what I had.

Steve:
I have to agree with you 100% about the Dodge Cummins CR Trucks! It is only a matter of time before someone figures out a way around the defueling issues. Steve,.......... can you work on that for us?? I also think that with the advent of the "upgraded" CP-3 Pumps etc. that the CR trucks might be able to rival the 12 valve P-Pump trucks. It will definitely be interesting to watch.

Don- Bullydog has a tune that completely eliminates TQ management and the speed limiter. It also pulls much harder than the current Crazy Larry tune. It has not been released yet, but hopefully soon as track times will be much improved. Before this tune I could only launch with 2k rpm before it would defuel, now I can launch with 3k if I want.
