1/8 drag - let me know what you think

First time I ever raced at a strip.
My best drag:
Reaction .1250
60 ft 2.0618
330 ft 5.1223
1/8 time 8.9900
1/8 MPH 77.82

This was really fun. I felt intimidated the first time up because I was running against a awesome GTO that ran in the 7's.

is there any way to look at those numbers and estimate 1/4 mile time and speed?

VERY general rule of thumb is 8.99 X 1.25

I ran 10.40 1/8 and 16.25 1/4.

My ratio is 10.40 X 1.56 = 16.25

At a 1.56 ratio you'd be running 14.02 wich is quick to me.

So for you it would be between 1.25 and 1.5 guessing mathematically. Now let someone who has something similar to you chime in.

The 1.56 is fairly close for a lot of trucks. I've ran 8.21 in the 1/8 and a 12.84 on that pass in the 1/4. Not off by much anyway. My easy launches result in 8.32 passes and 13.0s and that ratio says 12.97 so it's close again.

You've got a 13 second truck with a harder launch.

I was in 4WD and was holding at 1800 RPMS. Can I launch any harder than that?
When I was in 2WD my times were clear up in high 9's and 10's

I launch by my boost gage. I wouldn't go over 10 psi without upgrading the input and output shafts. I broke my output with a 10-12 psi launch in 4X4. Right after I had dynoed 1000 lbs at the wheels. Same day even. I currently launch at 15 psi for bracket racing and higher for trying to get the best numbers. I can pull 1.75 60 foots launching at 15 psi consistently.

This past tuesday I went to our 1/8 mile track and ran. 2nd run I built to much boost and roasted the tires till I let out about half way down.

Don't forget about the flex plate! Shafts are not the only things that break.

Dan Marino, do you race at kanahwa (sp?) valley? I live in gallipolis. I would like to see you run sometime if thats the case. Is that a "Brian" Vannest valve body?
