My new sub box, let me know if you think it will work.
Let me know if you guys think this will work. I had always planed on installing a custom box with a 10 inch sub under the middle seat, but while working and kicking around the garage today i had any idea, I could make my own box and use this smaller 8 that I had laying around and it wont cost me a thing. So I pulled out some mdf I had laying around and got working. My idea is that I can use the under seat storage as part of my box and just build a top for it to hold the sub. I cut the top and secured it to 3/4 x 3/4 dowel sticks that I screwed to the inside of the box. I left between 3/4 to 1 inch of airspace between the top of the box and the bottom of the top seat so I think that plenty of room, and there looks to be plenty of air space inside the box as well. Still need to mount the amp, wire it up, and paint the top but let me know what yall think(I may have spent to my time in the sun today so Im turing tords yall to help me out). My new radio powers the doors great but still wanting just a little bit more bump, not so much that I will rattle the windows or wake the neighbors just enough to even it all out. Ohyeah I cant tell you this whole story with out posting a picture so here is the only I could get, took one click and the battery died so Ill try to get more as Im hooking the rest of it up later this week(hopfully if I have time)

a 8" sub typicall needs about .33cf of airspace, think I got that correct.
there may not be enough there to be optimum. Usually about a 1x1x1 is about correct if I recall. The box in my car for a 8" is 36x4x12 or so. It does ok for a 8.
I like the idea though, how did you seal the bottom? One of the solobaric woofers may work well there. they dont need a sealed box, so they say. I have never tried them

Sorry it took so long but summer finally kicked in and after working outside all day I really dont feel like doing much else outside in my free time. Finally got the box painted and all wired up. Like I thought it wont rattle the windows in the neighborhood but has just enough punch to where I like it. To seal off the box I ran some weather striping that I got from Home Depot around the bottom of the top plate and then just screwed it back on, the bottom seams to be sealed pretty well so I didnt have to do anything there. All in all I am pleased with how it turned out, still have to do some fine tuning with the amp and the EQ settings but for building it out of spair parts I had laying around and a good deal on a sub it turned out pretty good.
P.S. only thing I dont like about it is you have to take the top part of the seat off to take out the sub or pull the top plate off (it was my design eror but I shouldnt have to be taking it on and off so it should be good.)
Here is a pic of the finaly look

1 cubic foot is 1728 cubic inches. at .33 cubic feet would be 576 cubic inches. the box discribed above at 36x4x12 is 1728 which is a cubic foot (unless he is measuring exterior dimensions but would still be way over .33 cubic feet). I have done a ton of custom systems and I think that the plastic tub our center seats have might not be strong enough to support the pressures inside the box. You may have to get some fleece from a fabric store and fiberglass resin and strengthen the bottom tub. Fleece is strong and widely used by many custom stereo shops.
