What am I doing wrong? & 1/4 Mile Times

I just ran a 14.4sec. 1/4@104mph. Anyone can read my mods under my sig. What I'm needing to know is what kind of times "should" I be getting, cause my trap speed seems a little fast. I know with a better launch (which is hard w/a 2wd), I can lower the trap mph and times. Also, I want to know what kind of numbers folks on hear are getting with their trucks.

Ya it does seem a lil high cause mine being 2wd leaving at 2psi did a 14.1@96mph. I think anything over 100mph is 13's. Not totally sure tho

i would think with that trap speed you should be low 13's or going by your et you should be low 90's

That trap speed seems high. When I would run in 14.1 my trap speed was 98mph. My best time is listed in my sig. My mods are in my profile and I launch at 25-30psi in 4x4.

not true about the mile an hour, when your mile an hour is high it means you spun lots out of the hole, if you dont believe me try it next time, and you dont have to be over 100mph to be in the 13s you just need a good 60' time,
mine was 1.80 sec.

Streetsmoker what kind of 60 foot times are you running? For example I've ran 12.84 with a 1.66 60 foot and a 25psi launch but usually I shoot for 15-18 psi launches when bracket racing and run consistent 13.0s. A lot of the mph times will be somewhat corrupted by the fact that those of us running 4X4s loose mph over a 2wd truck even though we maybe quicker . With the 15 pound launches I also run consistent 8.30 to 8.32 1/8 mile times. Whereas the 1/8 mile ETs will drop into the low, low 8.20s with the hard launches but I loose all consistency and take a chance on breakage.

03 and 04 single ECM trucks have a real bad defuel. A good way to check how well you ran or drove is the 1320 rule. On a perfect run (like that will happen) your mph x your et should = 1320. If you look at your time slip your 60' was more than likely 2.1+ seconds.

Using the ET * MPH = 1320 theory for my truck on a #2 only pass I got:

12.05*112.58 = 1356.59

A so called "perfect" run with the same ET would be 12.05*109.54 = 1320.00

That doesn't make sense. I would have to MPH slower to get a so called "perfect" run.

If your trap speed is higher you more than likely had some wheel spin off of the line, thus giving you a faster trap speed. Turbo Tom 13.3 at 107 what was your 60'? My old 12v ran a 1.78 60' and 13.52 at 98mph on a single turbo (h2e 17) with a 5 speed (almost 4 years ago).

Cmonroe, that was launching in 4wd with a 1.72 sixty foot time which is within my normal range (high 1.6's to low 1.7's) with the 285 BFG's on a good day. On a great day (very good track prep) I'm in the mid to high 1.6's. After 200 passes at the dragstrip I've learned how to set my truck up and how hard I can launch w/o excessive wheelspin according to track conditions. It's hard to imagine I was getting 3 mph worth of wheelspin off the line but I guess it's possible. Do you think boosted 4wd launches throws the ET*MPH=1320 formula off?

Cmonroe...........If I remember right, the 60 ft time was 2.05. This was the first time in this truck. + my light times were crap, too. The cheater slicks and the tranny were not matched very well. Shift points were way off. I feel the truck had more in it, I just couldn't get it out. A little more boost at launch would have made a lot more difference but I didn't get enough runs to tune it in. This year I'll be runnin my own truck and will know a little more about it.

Mtomac, we often have wheel spin that you can not feel. I'm not saying you have alot but you bet every shift that truck of yours makes it has some rollon. If you look at you slips the times with the better 60's and the same et's as slower 60's, the quicker 60's should have lower trap speeds. By the way thats one hard running Chevy you have Tomac.

Cmonroe, since our MPH at the track is the average speed thru the traps instead of our MPH @ 1320' won't that throw the R*T = D formula off?
