Big Rigs Talk about other Cummins powered vehicles here. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be Cummins, but it will be diesel! :)

Idk they say a heated dump body that uses diverted exhaust gas to heat the inner walls of the dumper. Unfreeze and thaws thing out a bit. I was wondering when the dumper is down how it mated to the exhaust pipe. I want to put one of those hoists for mt stock truck bed? But want to keep my single stack.

adds resale value to the truck too, cant do asphalt work in northeast without one, removable flex pipe is used to mate the stacks too the body, usually the stacks r shorter. If its a chrome queen then a y pipe with diverter is used.

I've only ever seen them on asphalt dumps (yeah, Northeast here), but what other use do they really have? Off Road pit dumps have them to keep the exhaust pipes hidden and/or direct the exhaust to certain locations away from operators of other equipment, but what other uses for on road average dump do they have?

There is a small box with a spring loaded flapper in it that diverts the exhaust to either the dump body or the stack, depending on whether you want the body heated or not. There is a 'bell', for lack of a better word, that is welded to the bottom of the dump body that, when the body is down, mates to the switch box.

Donovan Equipment in Manchester NH sells these things. http://www.donovancompany.com/
I'm sure there are others, but that's who I always got them from for my trucks. ALL my trucks had them. Good for keeping snow from sticking to the body if I was hauling from parking lots. Keeps dirt from freezing as well.

Used here bye most trucks. In winter it keeps mud and moist dirt from sticking to cold metal. Also keeps temp up for asphalt especially for truck going from site to site restoring street cuts. Exhaust runs through hollow framework of dump body. As said exhaust runs to a diverter box on chassis at front of body. With body down intake on body mates up with box with overlapping size.

ld imagine that the connection would be a lot like Pete' used on the old COE tractors. the upper part would be kinda bell shaped while the bottom was ball shaped with the top center open for the exhaust to go out.
