Big Rigs Talk about other Cummins powered vehicles here. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be Cummins, but it will be diesel! :)

"Duel"

I think this is a pretty neat old truck. According to the web site there were four of them used in the filming of the 1971 movie "Duel"....

Maybe it was the movie what caused Chrysler to go BK in 1980.

"Gosh, I don't want to drive a crappy car that cannot out race a loaded truck up a hill!"

Yep, thats the Duel truck.

If I remember correctly, that truck is not actually rusted, it's painted like that.

I'm sure that I read that on some article...

Ahhh! Duel! Fueled my love for trucks and diesels when I was a youngun'. Id drive that truck around as it sits. Love that movie. Most people dont know what Im talking about when Im telling them about it; kinda like Two Lane Blacktop...

They HAD to run a slant 6. Any other Mopar engine under the hood it wouldnt have been much of a duel...that Valiant woulda walked away no problem

A Ford or Chevy woulda broke down trying to run away from the semi and gotten run over...

The link to the trucks home page is in my initial post.

from the web page
The surviving Peterbilt tanker used in Steven Speilberg's 1971 movie "Duel" is alive an well, nestled in its new home near St. Louis, MO. The truck was purchased in Los Angeles and brought back to St. Louis in October 2005.
