Air Tank gallon size
hey all, I am looking to replace my air receivers on my 72 Brockway, I have seen some good deals on the web for 5 gallon 4 port receivers. What is an average size receiver on a truck. I currently have one on each side of the truck. Is there a way to measure to figure volume?
Yeah there is a formula for that
volume of a cylinder
v=(pi)r^2 * h (pi 3.14 times radius squared, radius is half the diameter, times the heigth or length of the cylinder)
that would give you cubic measurement in inches if you use inches
the total of that divided by 231 (cubic inches of a wet gallon) or 268 (cubic inches of a dry gallon)
example tank 6 inch diameter by 21 inches long
(3.14 *(3x3))*21=593.46cubic inches
to convert to gallons
593.46/231=2.45 gallons
There is probably an online calculator for this as well
Hopefully my math is not all wrong but I think that is it
