Diesel.

I'll post up some pics of the tank and install tomorrow. I got a 75 gallon aluminum saddle tank and installed it this past week. Went to Mexico yesterday and filled up the truck (fuel light was on) and the tank all for $232!!!!

The only worry, I have with you filling up down south is the quality of the fuel. Have you ever checked to see if you are getting debris or water in the fuel when you are filling up. The fuel could starts out with quality, but then they cut it with water or alcohols to keep the cost down . I know that we have the same problem state side, which Trucking Magazine noted that our local fuel quality control is poor to non-existing.

I'd love to do that but would try and install an additional filter to eliminate any possible contaminents. I ran hundreds of gallons of Mex. through my '99 and filter looked the same at 10,000 miles. A local guy returned several months ago from a round trip to Honduras from here with an '03 CTD pulling an 8,5000# trailer. He changed the filter every 5,000 miles and drained the filter periodically.Zero issues.

At those prices, for the 110 gallons you got, would have saved me $285. I would say that may be worth waiting. I would also make sure to change your filter often.

Good for you! But why in the heck can a person drive an hour or 2 away and pay 2-3 bucks less a gallon for fuel? Is our fuel that much better? Are they selling half diesel and half water? What is the deal? If the fuel down there is the same quality as ours why in the world do we pay twice as much? I know they pay more in other countries, but to drive across the border and get that price is unreal!

I didn't pay attention to your sig, do you have any extra filtration?

If I lived where you did I'm sure I'd be doing the same thing.

My neighbor crosses at 3:00 am during the week and waits maybe 20 minutes at Otay east of the San Ysidro crossing(Tijuana). You'll will want to obtain Mexican insurance in case of an accident. It's a felony to drive without Mexican insurance down there. www.discoverbaja.com is a good online source for insurance that actually pays.

let's say that's completely true about sulfur.... do you actually think costs $3 per gal more to reduce sulfur? get real.... oil companies are charging highest possible prices, because they can. wouldn't you?

think about the competitive advantage this give mexican truckers that operates within US.. legally of course.

why do our laws exists that allow this pillage of our economy?

Anybody ask you yet ---- """ he Gringo.......can schu bring deez bag of dope in da us for me???? Ok.....Ok.....how about juz my Daughter? """

Way to go! F-- These Oil Companies!!!!!! Someone is getting rich over these inflated fuel prices, and its not the working class of America! We need to stop bending over and grabbing our ankles or $10/gallon may be a reality someday soon! There IS a breaking point. Don't know what it is but it seems we're not there yet and the oil companies know it!

Lots of questions so I'll see what I can answer.

The total time for me leaving my house and getting back to my house was one hour and 15 min.
I did change my filter and will check / change it at 5k just to see. I do have a few friends who have been doing this for several months now and many hundreds of gallons of fuel with no issues. Just stick the the more popular stations as they move a lot of fuel through. I will be adding additional filtration to be safe though.

Not illegal to bring it back to the states. The customs is cracking down and you must have your tank bolted it and it must be a diesel truck. Also not "supposed" to be more than 100 gallons at a time. This is slowly getting more strict (sp?)

The biggest part of the price difference is the TAXES!!!! The fuel is the 500ppm fuel but with very little taxes.

So far the truck runs a bit better and sounds better again. I am also going to get 2 55gal drums to store here at the house. I figure make a couple quick trips and not need to go back for a while

I'll post pics soon
