Big Rigs Talk about other Cummins powered vehicles here. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be Cummins, but it will be diesel! :)

3306 jake brake

Anyone know what it takes to add them, if they can be added to a 3306? There is one in the Steiger and it's brakes aren't too good. Jakes sure would be nice. Especally with 69,000 pounds in the cart.

wow thats an old girl. I don't know for sure, but i think 3306 didn't have jakes. I don't think many were even in trucks. mostly equipment and stationary.

Dang. I don't know about newer Steigers, but the older ones had one big brake disk on the front driveshaft. Not the best set-up for stopping 110,000 pounds of tractor, corn, and grain cart.

I'm not intimate with them, but have worked on one or two before. Old gear and big weight never sounds like a good idea. if the truck is rated for it, it shouldn't be a problem. But if its overloaded........

It can be a little light in the nose with 70,000 pounds of corn in the cart. Really could use fluid in the front tires.

I thought steiger was an old highway tractor clearly never heard of it.

You can add an engine exhaust brake pretty easy though. it will help alot.
