Trannys

Is NADP the only game in town (Edmonton area) who can or does rebuilt/ reliable trannys?

Just had the truck in recently to do upper ball joints while I had warranty left, while it was there had them do a tranny service. The fellow who did the service over filled the auto by a liter and a half. With a couple days of driving around town noticed the tranny temparature was higher then normal. Took it back to get it checked over and seems all they did was suck out the excess fluid and said "have a nice day!". Well had to get back the bush been a couple of weeks now and tranny temps still up there, before service driving around town temps ran up to 160deg F now I hit 190 - 200 deg F!! All this while empty, haven't hooked up to my equipment trailer yet... I'm afraid to!
Not sure if i want to deal with the Dealer on this out of warranty and not to mention pay for something they wrecked only to have the same tranny. Looking to get a built tranny, thinking my money would be better spent on a built tranny?

I know a guy out in Sherwood Park that I highly recommend. After 5 trannies in m '98 through warranty ++, he is the one that finally fixed it for good - I saw my ol' '98 still rolling along last weekend. The unfortunate problem is I'm in Airdrie and his number is on my cord board, in my office,at home. I'm down here for another 2.5 weeks for sure.

I put a vote in for Excell Transmission in Red Deer. Mel is a good guy and they seem to have a good track record with anyone I have talked to.. The do performance upgrades to your specs or will provide a comparable product package.

I did my last tranny myself. I sent my tranny to DTT for a rebuild and put it in myself. It wasn't that hard and would take an afternoon to put in.

Try A&C Transmissions in Winterburn (west end) I'm running one of his trannys, it gets used hard everyday 8-10hrs of stop and go city traffic, I've logged in excess of 80,000kms in the last yr on it. 90% of it was with an EZ and 80hp injectors. it still hauls fine. it has the trans-go reprogram/shiftkit, and a billetT/C, I believe now they can build a triple TC if you want one. funny thing my friend had them instal one today.
Bob, is pretty well versed in the dodge tranny and for the price and reliability, you cant go wrong. I personally know of two other drivers who have his tranny, and they are both pleased as punch with them. Their customer service is awesome. and they have quick turn around time. mine was around 2000$ cash and carry, 2700$ installed

I just re-read your post I believe the 3gens are the same as the 2gens in that the tranny fluid can only be checked in neutral! NOT Park. it could be they checked it in park removed the excess fluid when in fact once it's in neutral the fluid level will not even be on the stick. the transgo shift kit corrects this and allows more pressure applied to the TC among other things.
The low fluid level might be the cause of your high tranny temps.

Have you checked tranny fluid level when warm in neutral? The service manual gives you an idea of where the fluid level should be at for a given fluid temperature. Which tranny filter did they put in? Did they do a tranny flush or fluid replacement? If there is no debris in the pan and the tranny shifts ok, you should be alright. You have no blockage with the tranny filter? Whats the engine temperature at? Just trying to help.

Same here. Mel is a close personal friend of mine and he KNOWS tranny's. He has built many of my tranny's and transfer cases. His number is 1-403-358-5589. Tell him Jamie sent ya and he will hook you up way better than that other brand.....

Excel did my Father-in-laws tranny here about 2 months ago. I liked talking to them as it wasn't a fight to get what you wanted. I should have used the Jamie discount! LOL...

thanks,

tranny fluid was checked and it was over filled... back to dealer they pulled 1.5 litres from tranny through dipstick. As for filter I assume it was a OEM filter as it was performed at a dealer. Tranny fluid was replaced as per my request. (I orginally brought truck in for balljoints and had them do tranny filter) Engine temp is noraml. Tranny temps before this service ran around 140 deg empty with city driving. After having the service it now runs 190-210 empty city driving, on the hway she drops to 140deg and lower depending on ambeint temps. Pulling my TT 10k# I would see tranny temps of 180-190 city driving, now I'm seeing higher and with an empty truck?
