Aaron is putting an actual quote together for me right now, but it was looking like $700 for deck and o-rings, $150 for thick cummins gasket, and whatever HD springs and a valve job add to it.

wasted the HD in 3 spots............blew the front of #1 cyl right out the front of the engine. and #2-3 and #3-4 were cross communicating.

all the holes look good cept #3 has 1 single scratch in it on the major thrust side. #6 has a couple minor scuffs. all holes still have pretty good cross hatch though.

I'll clean it up better, have a better look and check deck flatness.

Trying, but its not going so well. Even if someone wanted it, I don't think I'd sell it anyway. One more souvenir to hang up on the wall I guess.

Luke, you definitely did a number on that one. How much oil was left in the pan after that? Atleast you got a little bit of rust proofing going on under there. I did my undercarriage in the summer with the PS pump gasket.

I've got a 12v head sitting on my garage floor if anyone needs a core for rebuild. It is the original head from my truck took it off at 325,000km's, nothing wrong with it, just got a new one at the time for a real good price.

Yours at least looks better than this one.

That's cyl #1 but #6 looked identical.

At least you got a good kill on the head gasket. Congrats bud. Did you enjoy removing the studs out of the back of the head by the firewall? I bet you cursed abit.
This weekend I'm trying to put in my transmission. Right now the only thing stopping me is crummy tranny jack I rented. The jack minimum height is 8in. To put the transmission in the truck, your truck has to be jacked up 2 foot off the ground just to get it under the truck. Who build a jack with such a high minimum height is beyond me. Most guys who use floor transmission jack don't have hoists and usually work on the floor of their garage.

I've thought about doing just that. I have to get bigger ramps. The transmission is so darn heavy you can't pick it up under the truck. The tranny is about 160 to 200 lbs and the converter is around 80-100 lbs. In my younger years, I wouldn't even need a tranny jack.

Any updates Luke? You get all of the coolant out those cylinders yet? I found that my DTT flex plate didn't fit to well to my crankshaft. Its together. By the weekend there could be smoke in the hills over Airdrie. HEY YAH I might be a little excited.

Nice stuff bud, you should also get your exhaust manifold done as well. I'm planning on getting mine done for the new set of twins. My truck is together, I just have to add tranny fluid. Its been awhile since I heard her purr.
