i was saying at 160k (& 9 yrs) it's probably time for a coolant flush/change. the truck still has original coolant in it . . .
i'm sure the heater core would have lasted longer if i had regular coolant change intervals (km or time-wise).

My truck is still brand new at 240000km. Clayh, good work buddy. Nice pics. Was that for the 03 or the 01?

Diesel Dave, I was working outside for 4 days for 12 to 14hrs just before Christmas out in Kerrobert Sask area. At -34 deg C and 40 km winds, kinda toughen me up my soft Calgary office butt. My truck ran for just about three days non stop. To pick up parts I just used the bolts/nuts to freezing to my fingers. At least you beer doesn't get to warm.

The pics were from my '01. The '03 kick but for heat! WAY better than the '01.

Almost makes me forget about the horrible seats and bad shifting tranny....almost.

True Dave, that what scares me the most. After I take it apart it will never be the same again. I have take half the dash apart and the steer column (clock spring fix).

well i guess i misinformed those who read this thread . . . .
went to partsource to pick it up and the heater cores are regular price at $93. the flyer had various items grouped together at 20%, but apparently the heater cores were not part of that sale. the radiators are on sale though for a low price of $450 - $600 regular. i had no idea the rads for these trucks were so pricey

sorry for the misinformation guys

Can I come too? Its about time we have a day where we work on rides, although I think the main purpose is to make them run faster, not hotter . . .

sounds like a plan guys - as long as not too much beer is consumed prior to putting dash back together! - might not fit quite right, especially with left over hardware!

maybe we can recruit cLAYH!! - he seems to have a good grasp on this. . .
