Some of the chapter threads have become more like a mini classifed add rather than a discussion forum, that's all. This is just the heads up.

Ahhh... one thing though,, and this is just an observation.. when it comes to selling certain things, sometimes a person only wants to try and sell to his local freinds... like say for us,, to say sell,, a set of tires,, well it would be a waste of time for someone south of the border to buy it, but for a local guy it might work,, just food for thought,, not trying to create waves

You're cool, but we tried that and now we're having to close the door on it.

The sticky usually doesn't get the traffic we'd like, most folks just ignore it, just like they do the section in the forum rules about selling in the forums.
If you are not a paying advertiser on the DieselTruckResource.Com forum, you may not place advertisements in your signatures or posts for your products or website. You may not place classified ads. Paid site advertisers may post information on special deals or sales in the public forum ONCE PER MONTH. Pricing may not be given in the post. The post shall not contain full details of the sale or special. The post must contain a link to the vendor website that better explains the special or sale. Again, you may never publicly post pricing on your products. If someone asks, you may answer them privately. Members may only advertise for vendors or websites who are paying advertisers of the DieselTruckResource.Com forum. You may become an advertiser by visiting our Advertise with us page for more information.

The rules apply to all areas of the forums to include the chapter areas. This isn't new. If Jack and Lary want to change the rules then it's cool with me, but they own the site and set the rules. I just enforce them. Regardless of wanting keep something local, there's rules to the site and they HAVE to be followed. Sorry guys, it's just the way it is.

It's really not a big deal but it's been escalating lately and before it gets out of control we need to nail it down.

how about putting an option of some sort in the classifieds section to say where the poster is from, then it will narrow down the search result.

just like we get to choose 2nd gen section, 3rd gen section, drivetrain, non-drivetrain, etc. etc.

can a location be added to act like a filter on the search results?

I'll have to ask Jack and get back to you on that one.

Jack is looking into it. It's going to be difficult because the classified software isn't supported anymore. He might have to do some upgrading.

Thanks Trevor.

I was thinking the same thing as these guys as shipping to Canada scares anyone off in selling it to us..

If we post an add in the classifieds, are we allowed to post a heads up in our chapter??
Would somthing like "hey guys, got such and such for sale, anyone local gets first dibs" work if we put a link to our classified ad?
