Need some advice

I am looking at buying a used Smarty Jr. Any advice on what I should be looking for on the unit (other than obvious signs of damage)? And how can I test the unit to make sure it works properly? I do not want to plug it into my truck and download who knows what into my ecm. Next question, is the Smarty the unit to buy, or is there something better out there (Bully Dog)? I am looking for a basic unit, just a few settings, tow, economy, race or something like that. Thank-you for your advice, ksi.

The smarty is definately the way to go. What is your truck? You should fill out your sig so we can help you easier. As for not plugging it in, there is nothing that can really go wrong with them, the only thing you really need to worry about is if they are vin locked, and the only way to test that is to plug it in and see if it will download into your truck, if it downloads then it is fine.

IMO, buy the Smarty SR.
That way you have a tuner that will go from mild to extremely nasty instead of having to sell the JR..... Trust me...
