Roda Deaco is an Edmonton company I believe. I know they have dealers in Edmonton anyway, but any names currently escape me. Good place to start with. They're expensive, so they may have some used kicking around.

I have a Roda Deaco unit on my 01 550. Electrically operated, just hit the kill button on the dash, and the air shuts off.

Funny how the truck seems to have the same amount of power after you hit the switch, as it did before. Hmmm......

They are reliable, somewhat expensive, but in the event that you need them, worth their weight in oil. The wiring used is 12 gauge minimum, and when you hit the switch, it slams shut, no wasted time at all.

Of course, I bought this truck used, and it had the unit installed already. I don't work around oil and gas development, other than the occasional leaking hydraulic cylinder, so its pretty much a waste for me. That said, I didn't get the chunk of piping that it replaces, so I guess I'll leave it there til the cummins swap happens.

Good luck

Most dealers should be able to get them from RODA DEACO thats where i get them anyways. I'm pretty sure they sell to the public as well. Their number is on their website.

Ya, I got one directly from roda in my 04, and my welding machine. It cost both arms and a leg. Nadp ($$$$$)and diesel tech sells them to. Anybody know where to get them cheap though, even if its not new. I wonder if any auto wreckers would have one laying around. Already looked in the bargain finder.

search the term "rig saver" when you're browsing. its the slang for any positive air shutoff. and of course Roda Deco is by far the biggest manufacturer of them. you can by them at any Class 8 truck dealer.......

Just saw the thread... Got mine (RD) from a dealer in Red Deer, S&W Diesel. Mine is the butterfly style manual trip solenoid. Installed was just shy of $1K. The valve itself was around $800 IIRC.. The manual pull type are going out for the easier install of the electronic solenoid. If you find used mechanics trucks out there, you may find a deal on one. The wreckers around me were just as sharp on the price and wanted $500 for a used cable pull. I had to have it, so I just went and got a new one. Buddy got the full meal deal on his Dmax with the electronic RPM sensor, that was $1200 installed, same place. They were cheaper than any of the big dealers I could track down.

I know a person that selling his,its on a 2001 now but I'm sure i'll work on a 2004. its work great you flip the switch in the cab and it shuts off instantly.
He is only selling it because he parted out his truck before selling it.

Basically an off switch/valve used to cut off your intake air. If your diesel sniff-up natural gas, she'll do a run away until hit something or break something. Oil field stuff. The funny thing is there nothing required for a gaser, it can just blow-up the place with the ignition system (spark plugs), a diesel would just run over stuff.

Mike has it.. Since the ignition source is not controled on the Diesel, ie compression ignition, it burns whatever is in the air. NG would be the easiest to deal with, heavier fuels might be more of a problem.

Spark engines, probably would stall and you just cut the key. Dave, next time we meet you can take a boo under the hood. I have a few pics in my gallery.
