Darn, you give it a kick, just incase. Man, I can feel your pain, I have to pull my gearbox as well. I went thru three napa gearboxes before I found one that I felt was good enough to put in the truck, even still, I wasn't happy. I have my fingers for ya buddy. Keep us in the loop on what you find out. Its hard to get one as good a brand new box.My original box wasn't in that bad of shape to start with.

Things are good buddy. My front end makes a clunk sound when ever I do a hard turn. It drive me crazy. The rest of the truck is top notch, just that clucking sound. That HRVP, worked pretty nice buddy. I'm saving it for my mach 6'ers.Too many projects, no time.

Well, the truck is officially a non driving piece of poo!!! I can steer somewhat one way but not the other at all. Have to leave it at the tireshop for the weekend!!! It has to be the ball joints. They are going to change them all under warranty anyways so I hope this is the cure. If it isn't, I'm going to leave the keys in it and the doors unlocked in downtown Edmonton!!!

Hi you all, new kid on the block. Fought with mine and finally broke down and replaced the power steering pump. The fluid was real low about a year ago and I put regular sythetic fluid in it. Did'nt know any better. YOU MUST put ATF+4 transmission fluid in that thang or it will burn out. Steers like a caddilac, don't ya know! Hope this helps.

Jamie, does it make any noise when you try to turn the steering wheel? Can the wheel turn when you lift the front end up? Those ball joints must be really toasted, if you can't move the spindle. You could try seeing if the gearbox will move without the pitarm on.

Did you replace the gearbox recently?

I turns great with no weight. I just replaced the gearbos, PS pump and the hydroboost. I'm guessing it's bad ball joints when the weight is all down on them, they just bind up...

Did you do the replacement yourself or a shop? Usually, the upper ball joints are just about as bad. I want to use the heavy duty ball joints next time around. Next is that darn hubs issue. Glad to hear that you got her running again buddy.

They changed all the ball joints and all the tie rod ends and pitment ends. The entire front end was done when I bought the truck last april due to the out of province at Kal Tire. The entire bill was no charge because of the low kms put on since. I have an entire new front end now. I'm good for another 20,000 kms...

lol....

I recall reading something similar where the Moog balljoints were causing a bind when loaded.

Glad you got it straightened out...
