I'm curious about this also...Could I see any advantage to replace my one piece steel driveshaft with a alumiuim one???

Unsprung weight, yes. But the rotational inertia (which will hurt more than stationary mass) won't change much, if the you go from a 4" to 6" diameter shaft.

So all a person would gain is about 35lbs of unsprung weight? Rotational inertia would remail equal (give or take)?
