Question Oil Filter Relocation Kit Pictures???

With running twins the stock oil filter location is causing a lot of grief for everything! Does anyone here run a set up and how well does it work? I see Pacbrake sells one. Can anyone provide any installed pictures for me please? Thanks.....

I've been looking into the pacbrake one and it looks like a great kit, I'm tempted to get one myself because filter changes are so terrible

Not as pretty as the Pac but amsoil makes a dual filter relocate kit. The full flow filter is relocated and a second 2 micron bypass filter is added. Tougher to find a suitable location. I am looking at installing it behind the passenger headlight area.

I would love to see pictures of any instals as well.

Rob (Winkdiesel) is running one on his truck. Sure makes oil changes alot easier.

Jamie you could contact Harry at Peak and see if he has any pictures/more information.

I got a PacBrake one comming Mike. The worm has to go. This pretty set up needs to have a pretty intake tube with that big filter.

Sweet can't wait to see how everything pans out. Once you get everything dialed in and running those injectors, you should have a pretty fun daily drive. The spray just puts the truck over the top.

We are in the process of putting together a 325 07 CR, sure hoping that we get the nood to slide a colt stage 3 into it. I wanted to run different pistons, but the guy wants stock stuff (more budget friendly). Lucky I have an engine at all times at the machine shop these days.

Hmmmm, I'm not following the oil filter clearance issues with the twins kits.

It must be the air intake pipe in the way for the lower turbo. I've never changed my oil filter from the top, always from the bottom with an "end cap" type oil filter wrench.
My twins kit caused no difference in replacing my oil filter.

It sounds like the Source Auto lower turbo mount was used in Jamies kit.
Here is a pic of the Source S300/S400 5.9L twins kit. No oil filter clearance issues.

Mine looks indentical except the air intake is 1 piece molded silicone hose.
Lots of clearance to remove the oil filter from the bottom.

I've always changed the filter from the top. Last time I saw Jaimies it was about the same as yours, Ok to change from the bottom. Not so much of a clearance issue as a PITA for a guy with short arms like me. I figure a relocation kit, while not "needed" will keep it easy and will add extra filtration while still keeping the option for a stock filter.

Now, since I saw his install, Tate took out his grinder and made a few "modifications to the modifications" and it is now called a worm..... so who knows.

Once a twins kit is installed, I don't think changing the oil filter from the top will remain an option.

References to Jamie's "worm" intake pipe" don't leave a good image in my head but, as mentioned, it's only temporary.

Here is the Source intake pipe kit but at US$415, it's pricey.

While the Pacbrake oil filter relocation kit looks like excellent quality, I'm not a big fan of those kits.
Having seen those things leak & other issues plus more clutter in the engine compartment.

That's because the cold pipe to the intercooler is above on the source kits. My tube runs right above the worm to keepthings looking cleaner like a second gen kit. Those 2 pipes run soooooo close that's why there is a clearance issue. If i went ontop like the Source Kit, we could run the worm more upright and wouldn't have any clearance issues. Hope that made sense.

Top changes are gone with the twins. I expect to keep the option to return to a stock filter because I have heard of issues with the remotes as well.
I am sure the ASW boys did a great job on Jamies intake. It will have to be almost perfect to match the quality of his truck.

That makes more sense on the clearance issues. The 2 styles of twins pipe routing is a trade off.
I agree having the turbo outlet underneath looks cleaner but then it gets really tight in there under the battery tray, tight to the alternator, the 3 pipes crossing over each other.

Having the turbo outlet on top doesn't look as clean & that pipe can get in the way of of other things but is simpler IMO.

Here are some pics of the old style Industrial/PDR twins kit with the turbo outlet underneath. The piping is beautiful in this kit but still really tight in there.
The MPI kit is nearly identical to this. The BD kit piping has similar routing but the pipe quality & clearances are not nearly as good.

There is no perfect twins kit. To fit both turbo's & all that piping in there is a challenge.

The pic on the right is my ATS twins. Not as clean with the turbo outlet on top but much more room under the battery tray & the alternator.

The issue at hand isn't so much the charge pipe being a low mount, but not having a tight enough radius off the intake of the primary to clear the oil filter. I took a deep chunk out of it to clear the oil filter, but it adds restriction and complexity, and isn't as friendly for oil changes as it should be. Even with the 45 degree boot, its touching the oil filter. Brett had a pipe made using that boot, and still had to dent it for oil filter clearance.

Like Tate said, that Source bracket is a match to an overtop pipe like on Joe's truck. When you start to get custom and try to put the pipe down low, it gets tighttttttt. That Source mount has given us more problems than you could imagine. I'm still appologizing to mike about my little outburst over nothing.........
