New Trans
Well finaly pulled the trigger, went to see Mel and Scott at Excell Transmission in Red Deer. Talked to the guys a couple weeks ago about doing my trans and they answered all my questions and had some suggestions ( and had reasons for them too) about what I should do and use for parts. Flex plate finaly arrived (PRW Platinium series) last week so dropped truck off on tues and picked it up last night.
changes noticed so far:
1) converter has better fluid couplling when not in lock-up, Pulls rpm down when it shifts
2) when converter locks it LOCKS ( Scott said if its too harsh they can soften the engagement alittle) almost pooed the the first time it locked on me
3) temps are alittle lower than before but still working everything in, temps on trip to Excell 185 on highway at 120kph on way home about 175ish when I got home and temp was slowly going down. temps taken about 12" from trans on the output line.
Trans: Billit triple lock convert, Billit input & output shafts,HD servo, Red Race clutches Koleen steels, electronics and what ever good stuffs Mel could comeup with

Excellent!!! Mel is a very close friend of mine and knows his stuff. He will help you get your truck to where you want it to be. How tight do you feel your converter is??

The converter is tighter than my old one for sure. On the fluid coupling it is tighter, old converter it would go to 2200 rpm and stay there even after shifting to next gear the rpm wouldn't realy drop. Now when it shifts the rpm will drop a couple hundred rpm with each shift. I don't think I would want it to much tighter because that would cause heating at stop lights because you would have to hold truck back. The truck will start to move as soon as you release the brakes. Also when you shift into gear or forward to reverse it has a solid feel to it now but not harsh. Will post more as the miles add up, only have about 200km on it now 150ish was on the highway coming home from Red Deer so it was overdrive lock and cruise for 1.5 hours not much work for the trans
