Hey guys I have to ask what you guys think? Should I powder coat the engine mounts black or Apex red? Typically its black, but red would give a slightly different look. The valve covers, alternator bracket, thermostat housing, air horn, injector lines and heater grid is going to be Apex red.

Thanks mon, been trying hard to make the old girl shine britely again. The engine is going into a 24V 98 dodge truck. Its a black sport with red lettering on the bed and tail gate. I'll snap a pic, should b good eye candy.

Have my fingers crossed if the cruise control will work. So far its been a pretty easy swap. Well its easy when you have an engine out of a 98 12V truck.

That engine would even look sweet in my truck. I've got the black/red scheme as well. However would have to be a long box. Nice job.

These engines dress out pretty nicely. Can't wait to see one with twins on it. Probably the most fun apart of building them is looking at them. The six valve covers sure look sweet. Haven't landed on putting on a 215 HP 12V engine cover, on to it.

12V valves work pretty nice once you get the right amount of mixture of fuel and air. I really think that the newer designed turbos sure makes these older girls so much fun to drive.

Yeah for sure the best part of the build is the finished product. You should get some photos of the twins when done on that black painted engine. Make them twins pop out at ya Most opportune time. Anyone that see's them twin girls is gonna get wood. Ooooof back on topic I mean the other twins.
Yep no 24's or CR's in my future. Love the old 12'vers too much. Can't wait to feel the difference when everything is all tweaked in.

Looks great Mike!

I thought we discussed not painting engines black.
While it looks great, if you have any kind of leak it can be a bear to find if the engine's black. I've been in that boat before..

Don't paint it Chevy orange either, but for different reasons!

I've painted a few engines apex red, they get messy in a hurry, to me its too much to handle. The black stays black looking new for a long time. I'm converting a 98.5 24V into a 12V truck, so there are a few adjustments to be done to the wiring harness. The 98.5 wiring harness is directly run into the fuse box. My 02 has two main wiring harness connectors, so you can unhook it from the truck.

Makes the conversion more fun having to do everything on the truck. Trying to get everything to cross so everything works from the cruise, air conditioning, heater, gauges and tach, as it did from the factory. I also want a decent finished look to this install, to make it almost look factory.
