Need a stock clutch assembly and flywheel for my '06

I had to change my clutch out about 20,000 km's ago cause the flywheel and pressure plate were toast, so I went to a southbend ofe, but it has been really grabby for the last 10k km's or so. I can't take off in 1st without the truck jumping really bad, and if I hook to my trailer it is just terrible.

I figured I would check on here and see if anyone had a stock assembly they would be willing to sell?

Thanks - Kurtis

Have you tried talking to SBC and see what they say? I don't think the OFE should be nearly that grabby. Could be a defect. I hear Peter is second to none on product support, so talk to them before going back to a stocker.

that doesn't sound right for an ofe. if you drive it "like a granny" they can gum up and become jerky. give it a little slip high rpm second gear and slowly let it out to kind of clean it up. this was told to me by the valair guys i think when my luk clutch would gum up.

Yeah, I think i will give SBC a call tomorrow and see what they say. I've also got an anoying vibration that I have been trying to hunt down, and now thinking back on it, it showed up about the same time as the clutch install. I think I will pull the tranny and check it out, probably going to have to remove the clutch anyway. Will let you guys know what SBC says.

Yeah, OFE should be smooth as glass. I've run 2 in my operating truck over the years with no problems at all-killed the 1st one trying to pull loaded Super B's on New Year's Eve....

Are you sure you would go thru all the work &/or expense to re-install a stock dual-mass G56 clutch?

The stock dual-mass G56 clutch doesn't have a good reputation at all...

I had a defective center section on my first FE clutch and Peter sent me the entire new clutch on warranty last year when I did the tranny. I had almost 100,000km on it and he still took care of me.

WRT the OFE shouldn't be grabby. Try a little throttle on take off and see if it helps.

From the reading I've done, the single mass clutches will make the tranny a little noisier and transmit a bit more vibration. That was the purpose of the DMF, to reduce noise and vibes. Mine is definitely noisier than the 4500, but nothing the radio can't fix.

Well, just got off the phone with a guy from SBC. Gonna pull it soon as I get time, see what it looks like. The conversation I had was less than encouraging, pretty much if it worked ok when it was installed then I must have got it hot, etc. We'll see what it looks like when I pull it out.

I installed one of these in a friends truck as well, and his is still smooth as silk and he has a ton of km's on it, so I am hoping I find something physically wrong with it. Otherwise I am just going to find a stocker cheap and put it in. I don't want to be spending over a grand on a clutch again, just want the truck drivable.

Kenny, I had my truck out last night and got a little frustrated with the way the clutch was working so I did like you suggested and let it slip a bit to see if it would help, and there was a definite improvement. Guess it pays to drive it like you hate it once in a while!

Anyway, it did help it quite a bit, but there is still a noticible pulse when taking off. Pretty much have to let the peddle out until you can feel it start to grab, then push it back in a bit to make the take off smoother. I know it isn't working right, but I won't be able to pull it for about a week so I'm gonna drive it for a while like it is and see if improves.

I pulled the clutch yesterday and checked it out. It seems the pilot bearing worked it's way loose and came out of the flywheel. Looks like the clutch disc is toast as well, the center where the splines are has lots of play. Called and talked to Harry at Peak and he's got me fixed up, parts on there way. Can't express how much I appreciate his help, and Peter at Southbend as well! Great people!

I've read so many times about the pilot bearing working it's way out on OFE applications. Comments?
