I would get ahold of the Garage Stratagies 780.433.5721 or Auto-Quip 403-279-8213. They may be able to point you in a better direction.

There is another company out of Edmonton who fix over hear cranes and such who also certify floor hoists. I will try and find their number.

What they heck does the city have to do with your hoist, that should be a insurance situation.

They only way your going to get that is to either have a engineer blindly sign off on it, or take a core sample and have it tested or jack hammer out the area around where the hoist is going to be mounted and re-pour.

Why on earth the city is involved in matters like this. My question to them is they approved the original building permit so they should know the the concrete rating.

They are pulling this crap because revenues are down and this is a way to raise some easy coin.

When building permits and related incomes are up, stuff like this means nothing. This is a way for the pencil pushers to keep busy and still fly under the radar and keep their jobs.

All these "approvals" and fire ratings are already on record when the building was constructed, especially if this in an industrial park, not real hard to look up by the building inspectors.

And then they wonder why the small businesses go elsewhere and get out of the big cities.

Had to rant, sorry!

Jeff

This is the guy I was recommended to talk to by one of the fella's at the city of Airdrie, since I have to get my garage pad engineered due to the size. I talk to him a couple times via e-mail, but I haven't had any work done yet. But its worth a call/e-mail for you.

on the other hand for what they want you could move a quarter mile up the up the hiway and be outa city limits
