monitored security systems

Any you guys with home or business monitored security systems. Are the security companies going to charging you for a service call to reprogram the security system to accept the new 10 digit dialing….Why should I pay $75 for a service call for something that is not my problem…?

They should be able to dial in and reprogram it, that's what my company here at the building did at no charge. If it is your home system it should be explained in the operators manual.

...Why do they do this to customers...The security company said they forgot to install my system in the down loader(meaning they can't dial in)...So again is that my fault???So now I found that the 10 digit dailing thanks to Telus and the security company not programming my system right cause my system to go down.....They finally decided to waive the $75 charge.....My beef.....A customer has to blow their top first and risk a heart attack just to fix a problem that the company admitted was their problem in the first place...I just don't get it....

We have an ADT home security system and they too tried to charge us for re-programming our system for 10 digit phone numbers and they regularily try to raise our monthly rate.

I just calmly tell them to cancel our service and we will go elsewhere and they always back down. It's routine now..

So what you are saying then is that it would be a good time to go break in and steal some biodiesel

I'll drive!!

Seriously though, thats why I went with Alarmforce.. No flub ups like that and the intercom with central station is a plus for the kids or wife when I am away. The rates are guaranteed for another few years.

The monitoring company called me and they said that they had a flood of calls from Alberta with the same problem. They said the companies who sold these systems where not on the ball in converting to the 10 digit number. Now they are trying to gouge the customer with service charges of $75 to $100 to convert the security system to 10 digits....Just a heads up.If anyone in Alberta is being charged, tell them to stuff it...
