Then use a shop vac on the fuel tank fill opening.

I would keep the line off the old lift pump up as high as you can get and leave it on inside the engine compartment. Put a pan under the truck. Try to keep the lift pump suction fitting on as long as you can. The fuel filter will be full of fuel as well. Its only diesel anyways. You'll lose some fuel, but it should stop.

You should probably just disconnect the supply line at the tank fuel basket. If it is stock it is a quick disconnect fitting that requires you to push in and squeeze the side tabs to release on top of the fuel tank. You just lean over the drivers side rear wheel and you will see it. However, if it was stock it should not do what you are describing.

well i got back at it again today for a short while. i took off the vice grips and cut the soft line from the hard line and no more flow of diesel! for whatever reason it stopped pouring out. must have stopped the siphon effect by clamping the line for a bit.

i'll have to finish up tomorrow as i was short by about 13 feet of hose (2 micron filter mounted underneath and at the front of the bed just in front of the rear wheel well). once i pick up some more push on hose it should be smooth sailing from there on in.

the regulator was mounted, but i found i was unable to align and tighten the fittings properly with it mounted, so i had to pull it off and tighten everything down. that will be re-mounted tomorrow, then i'll just have to finish the plumbing, prime the system, then hopefully she'll fire up without too much difficulty.

anyone know where i can get parker push lock hose in calgary? do i have to stick with parker hose - or will any push on, diesel rated hose be the same as the next?

by looking at your pics, I see a new problem,, I have a fluid dampner,, way bigger than the stock dampner,, do you think that would be a problem?

I know the GDP system (knock-off of Opie's Mitusa) will not work with an aftermarket balancer.

I think i heard somewhere that Opie may have had a solution for this. I'm not sure, so I can't say.

Also - you have dual CP3's. I know Opie has a kit for your application and I believe the pump is mounted up in the engine bay as opposed to below it.

I'm sure he will chime in here . . .

Jason, are you putting the 2 micron filter on the suction side of the pump?

dr. evil - i don't know if Opie will ship them with 1/2, but it looks like it could be done. just have to get the fittings for 1/2 instead of 3/8 as well as the hose. i only see one problem in doing this - the stock supply line from the tank is 3/8 OD so you would have to adapt somehow or run a whole new supply line.

i asked Opie about running 1/2 line and he just kinda chuckled and said no, no 3/8 will be more than enough! the kit i ordered comes with 3/8 line. he has bigger pump kits - maybe they come with 1/2. i couldn't tell you for sure though.

mike - the 2 micron filter is on the positive side of the pump, not the suction. although Opie said i could run it on the suction side, it would just be more difficult for it to prime, but once primed he said it really doesn't care what you throw at it.
