I sent an e-mail to the US people in charge. They have no interest in selling in Canada... as of about 8 or 10 months ago... Too bad... I like the old style box with the hooks for tying down your loads...

Saw a bunch of this style of vehicle in India a couple of years back. We are definitely missing the diesel wagon... and that's a shame. The little toyota van we drove around in was fantastic...

Could be another flash-in-the-pan marque, like BERING.

I contacted mahindra Canada and he said:

They are not setting up any Canadian truck dealers. We will be looking at importing them but so far have no info more on it. We can contact you if and when we know more.

So now I know!

Yeah, depending on price I would like one too. I don't need to be running a 3/4 all the time for what I do, a little pickup like that with a diesel in it would be great.

I read a couple reviews on them already. looks like they are cheap throw away units. fit and finish is poor. but they would fill the niche that needs to be filled in the north american market.

like I would buy a 1/4ton truck with a small I-4 turbo diesel in a heartbeat.

like the colorado is availiable in overseas markets with a I4 duramax TD 4wd and crewcab body..........RHD from Thailland

If you look at the in box capacity of these trucks, nothing to sneeze at. The towing capacity is what will be smaller than we are used to from a truck with that payload.

IF the truck is priced for what it is (cheaper, more economical unit), it should be a deal. The vehicles we saw in India were interesting, took lots of abuse, and were simple to fix. Some of them had outstanding quality (like that toyota we rented) that I would have NO problem driving here. how they hold up to the salt etc. on the roads would be my primary concern. It's robustness would not be, not after seeing how they use the vehicles in India...

Looks like an opportunity to try to become the first Canadian dealer, or at least importer anyway.

Would be interesting to look at one alright. The parts situation will be the key I think-hopefully the importer will stock a decent supply of consumables etc. and the weird stuff won't take too long to get in. I would assume they'll set up a parts depot in the States to supply the dealer network there?

Look like there is a dealer in Texas, it would be just a few forums at the border, and you can get one, but, I bet that the lack of local parts would be a pita.

To bad that you can't get a smaller diesel pick-up, without building one from scratch.

That diesel Colorado is interesting...

IMO, GM has never put the correct engine in those trucks & that's why they can't give them away.
They stuck with that lame in-line 5 cylinder while they should have stuck in at least their excellent 4.2L in-line 6 cylinder.
And on top of that they should have stuck in the small 4.8L LS V8, plus offered a 6.0L V8 SS version like the excellent Trailblazer SS (with a manual trans of course!).

GM rant over...

Funny you say that... I was driving through the local GM dealer here and saw a Colorado with a 4 cyl gas engine that I thought it might be a decent truck to use as a work truck.
