IH is the cheapest to buy nice chrome tips in 3 styles and all you need after cutting the pipe off is the hd bad clamp to go with it. Less than $100 and if you have a grinder with a zip disc and an air impact should take less than 20 minutes to do it. Depending on the band clamp and tip style you may have to cut a 1 1/2" spacer piece to shim the band clamp. All my trucks get a 18" chrome turn out extension to keep the black off of the trailers.

Stacks are not "illegal" but non OEM federal standards exhaust systems are, however there is a provision in the law for modifications for vehicles like service trucks, tow trucks, oilfield, welding units, etc to move the exhaust releases from under the vehicle so workers on the ground do get gassed. 99% of the time you get pulled over is your driving and excess noise. 50% of the time you are guarranteed a ticket by your attitude. Funny how the two go together. My 2001 CTD had the full length full flow muffler and it could be loud but unless operating at full throttle it was not much noisier than stock. Never was pulled over in that truck for anything and sold it to my brother at 255k.
