Intermediate band?

Anyone ever replaced their own intermediate band? Mine is completely gone and a quote of 900 bucks doesent apeal to me so i think i might try and dig into it and try it myself.
Just wondering if this is something I should try, I've seen the inside of these things and know generally how things should work in there but have never actually pulled a tranny and ripped it apart.
Also how long should it take to replace it once the tranny is out, im figuring on like 3 hours to get it out and maybe 2-3 to get it back in?
Thanks, Fred.

Pick-up a rebuild kit from transmission wholeseller, I forget the shop name. They sell kits to the local tranny shops or buy off ebay. They also sell rebuild/overhaul books for the transmission. If you have all the right tools, a transmission can come out in about a hour. I took a bit longer. I would also buy need bearings, clutches, clutch plates and thrust washers. How do the accumalators work? I you remove the valve body, you can use an air hose and check. Do you have a shift kit in the valve body? How does your overdrive clutches look? Have fun

I had the pan off a while ago at my freinds shop and everything was good other then the intermediate band, there was like 2 inches of play on the apply lever, other then that it seems fine, but it did start leaking pretty good while i was away, its never leaked a drop from anywhere until i came home... there was a 6 foot long 4 foot wide patch of tranny fluid on the drive way.
I'll probably be buying a decent tranny later on this summer but until then i just want to be able to kick down into second without it revving to the moon.

I buy my tranmission parts from Kingsway Automotive Products in Calgary...They have a big selection of overhaul kits for automatic transmissions...Last I checked the overhaul kits were between $120 to $200.

Let me check there card...I think I may gave you the wrong company, once I looked at the address in the phone book.I will re-post the company when I find their company card...As I remember their kits included seals, gaskets and all gear rings.

The stocker is good for holeshots as you could stall it at max engine rpm, is until you get into OD and lock-up the TC. Where the oil leaking from? From what I remember everything has to come out to remove the intermediate band. I would stay away from the bands that are pinned and got with ones that are welded piece. You could also run a higher ratio lever, to improve holding force. Mines a 4.2 I think and mopar sells a 5.0
Measure the input shaft end play prior to dissembly the transmission. You should try to get it close to the same end play.

take a look at all the clutches including the over drives.
My band was toast and the clutches were on the way out also.

Ok so im pretty sure the converter is pooched which would explain the leak, i think it all leaked out and drained it when it was parked over the 2 weeks i was away. I wired up my lockup switch yesterday and nothing happens when I flick the switch. One wire coming from the orange wire with black tracer to the switch, then on the other side I have a 33ohm resistor soldered to a ground wire. Any idea whats going on with that? Maybe i should just go to the bank and get in some more debt but put an end to the tranny problems for a while with a shiny new billet one haha.

You have to pull the tranny relay under the hood and jumper it too. I didn't use any resistor for mine, just straight to ground throught the switch.I can't remember which pins to jump on the relay socket, either PDR or TST has a write up on their sites on what to do.

Ignore the above company....The company that sells transmission overhaul kits is:

King-O-Matic Industries LTD in Calgary
