Settled on the Maaco shop here in RD. They were the ones who had the best price and understood what I wanted. They have some clients here such as Armor Inc. for painting their fender flares and painted the CT Performance orange truck.

I visited it last week just after they epoxy coated it and sanded and showed me the spots they filled. To the untrained eye it looks pretty good, I am not a body repair expert by any means. But I felt a good vib with the painter/shop foreman as he has been there for 10 years and was enthusiastic about painting the truck. They have been good to deal with even with the delay to epoxy coat the pealing parts.

This was not a ground up restore type paint job either as I do use the truck for work, and the price reflects that. I just wanted the truck to be painted to be presentable and not let it go down hill.

I will look for overspray etc and report.

Just picked up the truck today..

Wow, now thats what it looked like new! I will have to gets some picks of it now without any of the decals or badges on it. Not a bad job for the budget I had to spend on it. Dents and holes filled and the color is nice to see fresh.

I will have to get some pics in the sun tomorrow.

Did they put on the extra 2 coats of clear???Two coats is great, but I like the extra one to two coats..The clear will shink in about 3 to 4 years...The extra coats give enough room for cutting to remove the defects once the clear shrinks..Did they use the Sherman Williams base and clear??

uh, umm... not too sure. I think its just the simple base-clear, which to me is fine. As far as paint type, didn't even know to ask such things.. Its not a show type paint job as I found some small defects to touch up already.

It maybe the standard 2 coats of clear..depending if its high or low solids clear...Just be carefull when dealing with two coats of clear that you don't break through the clear...But if you do...thats ok....I found a way to fix break through by using a air brush and blending agent...

The GM said to just bring it back after I look at it, if I find anything they would take care of that stuff. They offered a lifetime warranty for the paint so I hope they are around in 5 years.. LOL..

I shot a couple BB pics just for kicks after I wiped it down. I will get more formal pics in my gallery..

The right box side I had them strip off the junk that the previous autobody shop put on for the Linex replacement over the rail. The crud they put on was hard as rock, cracking and peeled off the paint. So I will wait the 4 weeks to cure the paint and get actual Linex on the rail to finish it off.

Well worth it IMHO. I think that for what you got it is a good deal!

Looking good buddy. Now I want mine painted. You replacing any other parts? Head lights, trim, window seals.

I just drove my older truck yesterday (its been about 2 weeks since I drove it), I think it spools faster than my new truck and wee bit more power. Jason, you're probably understand
