Well guys, I asked for your opinions and did not get any of the trucks listed in the poll! I ended up getting a Toyota Tacoma SR5 Access Cab 4x4 4 cyl. So far I like it. I still have the 04.5 for when I need a real truck. And the 98 dream lives on! Got the truck about a month ago.

It seems ok. With it being an auto it is really busy on the hills, but I can select whatever gear manually then it scoots up any hill around here (10% grades in spots) at the posted speed limit. Means 4000 rpm in second gear! Anyways I bought it without taking one for a test drive or anything like that. So it has more power then I was expecting, but it has a max towing capacity of 3500 lbs for a reason! Overall I am pleased with the power, ride, fit and finish etc.

Stay Away from the Furd
I drove a new 250 SD gas , in 12,000 miles [18,000 km ]from brand new the trans lost 3 gear entirely , the transfer case quit shifting into 4wd & almost got me stranded on ice roads hours from Ft Mc as I could not get out the way I came in or the other way out in 2 wd & there was no one around . The power steering quit entirely which was not so bad but while it was intermittent it put me in the ditch twice when it locked up going into or out of a corner . the radio became intermittent shutting off for 1 second every 10 seconds , Furd had never heard of the problem even though 3 of our trucks had the same issue ! & lastly it optomistcally said it could go 550 k on a full tank but rarely broke 400 k with 120 + lt tank , the milage empty averaged 6 MPG , I took a trip from camp to the rig & back , it was exactly 48 km , it used 4 gallons of fuel , over 18 lt !!!

Who did you take your truck to for the P/S issues? Almost every single one of our 2011 SD on site at Horizion has had similar P/S issues. We've gone thru both Northstar Ford in FM and a dealer in Edmonton, both say the same thing. Never seen it before.

We just turned the truck back over to the leasing company & let them deal with it.
BTW my vote is none of the above . All of my friends that have owned Toys have had premature failures with them , they got big & now have the same problems any other company has . Of course you can win any race with one as you cannot lift on the accerator which is why they joined Nascar !!
GM has always been unreliable for me
You have my experience with ford this year
so the best bet is the little Honda I guess
I would be buying a Mopar personally .

I do Have to say i was a bit of a toyota skeptic.....my friend works for AFSC (ag financial services corp...crop insurance here in AB) they swapped a 200 truck fleet from fords to toyota tundras and have one water pump let go in 2 years, aside from regular maint, that is the only issue they have had with those trucks prior to 160,000 kms fleet wide.....hard to ingore trucks that work that good
