IPM assist, was Electrical wizz for 3'rd gen?

I may need an electrical wiz for my 04.5 if I can't deal with a lift pump glitch tomorrow. Anybody with some suggestions for the Edmonton area?

Problem appears to be a lack of power to the lift pump. Will be working on Monday to try and confirm. Anybody know where the power to the lift pump comes from and how to check it?

thanks.

I was pretty sure there is a relay so I looked around a little, here is a link to a picture of the relay location, I believe the relay gets the trigger from the ECM. On earlier models you "bump" the starter to get the lift pump to run for 25 seconds and I would suspect it is the same on your truck. https://www.google.ca/search?q=dodge+ram+fuel+pump+relay&client=firefox-a&hs=wmi&rls=org.mozilla:en-USfficial&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=GtK 1UbiMIMvsqAGFi4GgCw&ved=0CGMQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=691# facrc=_&imgrc=bOEfGkXQWapugM%3A%3BFOd0OPsFOOGiOM%3 Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.2carpros.com%252Fforum%252 Fautomotive_pictures%252F12900_fuel_pump_relay_21. jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.2carpros.com%252Fques tions%252Fdodge-ram-2005-dodge-ram-fuel-pump-relay-switch%3B450%3B291

I have been doing more digging, and I think the power in to the relay is not working. I'm trying to locate a TIPM to try. Diagnosis is a multimeter and phone call to FASS.

I'll take suggestions though... $450 to 850 for a TIPM? Wow...

Worse comes to worst, just wire the lift pump to run when the key is on. Thats what I did in my dually since the ECM cuts power to the pump after 4000 rpm or so.

Yah. I'm going to go look for a circuit I can tap into now. I'll just use it to trigger the fass relay. Very short wiring that way.

Still want the TIPM fixed though...

But hate the price...

I've been looking at where to trigger my relay. I was planning on using a fuse tap, but... going through my IPM, I think I may have bigger issues with it. Many of the fuses have the full voltage going through them, however ALL the remainder have about 9 volts going through them. I'm assuming these are supposed to have none.

Does anybody have an 04 IPM I can beg, borrow, steal or buy? I want to test the truck with the IPM, and if the unit solves all, IF it is for sale (ie - not off your running truck), I'd like to buy it...

Do the 3rd gen's have fuel heaters? Thats what I tapped into for my shutoff solenoid and fuel pump on my dually. Its hot in both the start and run position, and its only triggering a relay, so additional amp draw isn't a concern.

I would check your battery terminals and cables for corrosion, could it be the 12 volts is from the passenger side battery and the drivers side is down at 9 volts?

I am not sure if you got this fixed yet or not. But I am in Stony for the rest of this week... I have a fairly full schedule getting house ready for painters, but I would definitely find some time to help you out if needed

It lives. Got a new IPM. A few minor glitches. It appears that where the relay for the fuel pump was on mine is a spare on this unit. Going to try it tomorrow and see if just adding a relay does the trick for me...

Hey Morkable - 53219, east side, if you decide to swing by for an old Rosie... My (new) favourite.

Great to meet you, Morkable, swing on by whenever. Easy to turn on the coffee pot...

Truck is running. I'm doing the glitch removal now (Wiring for the Stereo was... interesting, and is now ongoing). Seized brake caliper, speedo out of commission, Volt gauge out of commission. Those are the ones I know about right now... Oh, and at some point I'll need to hang a muffler... But it sounds cool...

It was great meeting you too! Once I get caught up on some stuff around here I will pop by again, and see if I can give you a hand
