DSS bearing

Got a email to Harry on this one....Bearing on the DSS is getting bad...A little rough sounding and I had a heck of a time getting the nut out of the bearing. For some reason the centre bearing hole wore on one side...Don't know how they pressed these bearings in...Its not a straight edge bearing but a beveled bearing...May land up buying the complete assembly..

I'm sure getting my share of things breaking this week...

.....I figured it out..Its beveleved because it has to move within the housing...Thats why there is a grease zerk.....Always helps to remove the grease, then check operation....The off centre is also normal.

They must heat the assembly, then drop the bearing in..Still need a bearing..or the whole assembly..The sealed bearing has some rough spots..

Its just a pillow block bearing, It should spin up on it's side and pull out. If you have all the grease off it look for two spots on the cast part that look like the metal is missing. But thats what mine looks like, it is also a BD one.

The center hole is offset because there is a collar that is also offset that you beat around to lock it on the shaft.

Its used in pretty much everyday farming life, among other things. Like was said, turn the brg 90 degree to the pillow block, then the brg rolls out. I also have the same brace, but on a 03. Should be able to get the brg anywhere.

I have to take the one off my 96 because there is a bolt that hold it on broke off. I will post the numbers for it when I get it off. Grainger would have it, it is not really a truck part, more like an air handler bearing.
