DPF, NOX, CAT CONVERTER, what to do with them

I have a DPF and EGR delete installed. Curious to know what everyone does with their removed parts? Are you selling them, scrapping them or hanging on to them in case big brother EPA types come and tell us to put them back on?

unless you`re made out of money, you better keep`em, so you can reinstall `em to legaly sell or trade in your truck. remember, it is a federal offence to remove ANY smog device, no matter where you live or if you need to pass bi-annual smog or safety checks or not. if you get caught in a random road side check, you`ll wish you never removed `em. the way the EPA is cracking down on the companies that sell delete kits and software, it aint going to be long before they start checking on who bought the kits. keep the stuff for reinstall. I hear that some regions north of the border are getting tougher on smog regulations too, so be cautious of what ever you do.

Alberta is far, far away from any California type emissions testing. But it would be wise to hang on to them if you ever did need them. Stash them away in a safe place JMO

ya I doubt that there will ever be mandatory testing in our future, within the life expectancy of the truck anyway. that being said mine are still sitting on the shelf, just in case I needed them for warrantee purposes but they are still there after its timed out. Too lazy to throw them out haha

Considering a new DPF is in the $2-3000 mark to replace from factory....Wouldn't be bad to hold on to them just in case. Mine are all boxed up.

Not sure on how often that this occurs here in Alberta, but these days with over spent provincial budgets. I've seen a few random hiway safety inspections, with the hiway cops focusing primarily on diesel trucks owners. I saw that they were mostly looking at older diesel (1st, 2nd gen) trucks and commercial service trucks. It appeared that they were looking for trucks that wasn't stock in appearance and trucks pulling trailers. I was lucky at the time that the hiway cops had a few too trucks to inspect, and I was waved thru.

My local dealer has given me the heads up that the hiway cops are also looking for any emission equipment tampering. Might be another cash cow for the province.

I'm also not sure if the USA/CAN border patrol will at some point prevent trucks from entering with tampered emission equipment.

It is coming our way Mike,i roll thought the Balzac DOT scales 4 times a week with my company truck, last year i was told this is on the horizon when i chatted it up with the officer while i was being inspected. This is why i kept my cat on my 07(just in case, even though DPS Specialist wanted me to remove it for some mild gains). Look at what occurred with EDGE/SMARTY in the US, it take a few years to filter up this way.I would not bet against it,yearly vehicle inspection will come to all as well.PS---if you have attitude with the officers inspecting your vehicle---THEY WILL FIND ANYTHING/SOMETHING WRONG and write you up.My new company 3 ton 2012 Isuzu cab over usually gets waved though because it a new vehicle, but i will probable get a warning about my windshield soon-----9 months on the road/50,000Km and 18 rock chips/cracks already.Looks like this will be a yearly replacement as nothing defects off of the cab----"just bullets coming my way".DW (my 2 cents)

Scary to think that we could start getting pulled over and fined for this. I suppose a guy could buy a used DPF setup and gut it to give the appearance that its stock. Hence why my truck is not flashy or obnoxiously loud, I don't care to draw attention to myself.

Huzzah for the dinosaur trucks. They may not be fancy, but no worries about emissions equipment.
