Life can be short enough without thinking about ending it yourself, so don't ever think that way. You sound like you have a wonderful family to support you and remember there are always people worse off than you are. My wife has a saying from a friend who passed away 4-5 years ago, they worked in the same line of work for many years and studied together. "This too shall pass".

With your luck you would bounce off the Rig floor break an arm or leg then still have to work.

You have lost respect of those around you, but as with anyone who gets into a a tough spot in their life you took desperate measures to try and fix the situation.

Your story is not unlike so many, except you got caught.

At the end of the day trust is given, lost then never fully restored. Everyone will carry on.

One thing we all need to remember especially here in Alberta is some of us make real big money, but we also spend big money to keep up with the next guy.
We all need to swallow our pride sometimes and realize that big money does us better sitting in an account for a rainy day. Not in our shiny big diesels or our 4000sqft houses. That is a hard one to do.
But I do realize people screw up, in doing so hopefully not only you learn Dave about the the value of life, but maybe someone around you may think twice about doing something similar.

Take your punishment, become an active member in your community to stop crime and help those who may not realize their mistakes.

I'm not going to close the thread, but diggerdave is gone. He said his piece, I don't need thieves on the forum muddling up things for everyone else. Nothing else good can come of him being here, so he's gone.

Not that I know everything, but this was a gentle prod in the ribs for me... I'm gonna go put that hose clamp on my tailgate tonight before I get too inebriated, and take a look at my other stuff. A lock will only keep an honest man out.

Gotta love how he victimizes himself while blaming his illegal actions on problems he no doubt created in his family. Liar got caught, plain and simple.

Good riddance, I hope you reap what you have sewn.

With that.. If he was or is a rig worker he has no excuse for this BS.. Wow stand up guy.. he only stole from gasser trucks .. I don't give a rats behind what the problem was.. go get some help.. Find a different job.. swallow your pride and ditch the big house and swank life style.

On a side note.. Guys.. Get metal stamps and stamp in your drivers license number.. heck do it a couple times.. Include AB DR then your number. It wont stop jerks from taking them but it will get em back in a case like this IF they are in some dill wads basement.

I don't know what its like in other companies in Alberta...But in Calgary, alot of oil and gas companies that hire people want a full release of all history of the person, before making a final offer of employment.

This includes...A full release of driving abstact.Full release of criminal record and student number of the college or unversity you attend..

Could be very slim to find employment now with a criminal record...

Doubtful in the oil patch. In many cases they are just looking for a warm body...

What is a student ID # going to do for them?

Dave that'd be only to get into an office building job. Out on a rig, if they;re drilling and you can swing a hammer. You're in.

What was happen in Calgary.. People where counterfeiting University/College degrees...And companies where accepting these degees without checking if they even attended a University...They would hire them and find out they didn't know nothing..

This happened as soon as Canada allowed more migrants..They would get a copy of a degree and start placing their names on it...

I seen this at the last EPC I worked at..A woman from another company was using one of these Canadian counterfeit degrees to get work...

With a student ID from a college or unversity, they could call and find if this ID is vaid and if so...did they even finish and graduate.

I didn't know that...I guess to think about...If your not dealing with sensitive information, what would the company care..Unless you start loosing physical equipment on site..
