Ball Joint Press

Can anybody confirm the part number for the OTC ball joint press that is used to r and r the ball joints on a 2006 3500? I believe the number is 8031 and the most affordable place to buy it would be at Greg's. Thank you, ksi.

For my 2003 I used a kit from NAPA. Got it on sale last month for under $200 I believe.

BTW it wasn't perfect, I did have monkey around with it a bit to get it to work and used a big 3/4" drive socket for pushing in at one point but the kit is heavier duty than the Princess Auto one and once I had it figured out the other side went much faster.

Also since I have a dually and didn't need to mess with the axle shaft u-joints I elected NOT to unbolt the adapter and take the big hub nut off but instead took the unit bearing, axle shaft and dually adapter off as one big piece. A bit awkward but saved a fair bit of work.

Good to know. I looked at the Mac Tools press just today and it appeared to be very generic. I am not sure how well it would work for my application. The Mac dealer is going to do some research and let me know if the tool will work for my Dodge.

Yep, it's the 8031. I got mine on eBay, was around $200 bucks if I remember right.

The local Mac Tools dealer has a ball joint press for sale aswell. The price is comparable to the otc tool and he delivers.

i'm pretty sure mac has some adaptors, that are made for dodges, as dodges are tougher than others to change. I've never had them, I just use a OTC kit we have at the shop.

OTC 8031, paid around 270 for mine shipped, makes doing balljoints a breeze. All the adapters worked perfect on my truck even
