Anyone order tires online before?

Been looking at websites like Tire Rack and Discount Tire Direct in the states to order a couple new tires for my truck since I only need two right now and want the same ones. I got quoted almost 950 bucks for only 2 Nitto Trail Grappler 315/70/17's installed in Canada. Online I can get them shipped to my door for around 800 give or take, but my question is if there will be hidden costs getting them across the border other than the final prices the website gives me. Anyone have experience with this? Will i actually save in the long run?

Most of the guys that do order from the states will have them shipped to Sweetgrass and then drive down and pick them up. The shipping and fees of having them delivered across the border usually eats up any savings.

I stayed within the states on this so I can't help on shipping. My experience with Tire rack was positive. 4 rims and tires, mounted and balanced, delivered no problem. Two studded winter tires also arrived from vulcan tire as advertised and delivered. I would deal with either retailer again if the need was there.

Several years ago I had tires and rims shipped to Canada from Discount Tire. Ordered in person in Arizona when I was down there but they were able to ship to a shipping depot (DHL) in Calgary without any hassle. The cost they quoted me included everything without any surprises in Canada. If they can still do that I would do it again. However, with the CDN dollar at $0.91 the exchange chews up the savings these days. Also, I am not sure if they can ship Nito into Canada anymore. I think Kal Tire has Nito locked up in Canada, but I could be wrong.
