Anybody Local have a valve spring tool?

Anybody near Calgary have the 24v head spring tool? I have a head that need to torn down and hacked up.

I'm gonna see where the coolant starts and the metal ends on the 24v head.

I could do it the old way one at a time, but the tool works pretty nice.

Well its off the the motor, but on top a VE block with a couple bolts lose. I have an single valve compressor that just compresses the spring. Its kinda tight around that area, so I don't know if it will work.

I'm gonna hack off the intake plenum and do some old fashion porting massaging on my cracked 24V head. I want to go until I can't any more. I'm planning on building a new intake manifold for it.

Down the road I will cut the head up into sections, to find more HP secerts. Been thinking about putting smaller water/methanol nozzles into each ports. Its only time right now, so I can dream.

I'm gonna use this as a fact finding for my good 24v head. I'm just about landed on a camshaft and springs for the engine. Gonna run my old mach 6's and a 12mm P7100 set at 5k. Should be a nice daily driver 24v/work beater truck.

Do the injectors have to come out to use that tool?

Thanks Luke, I'm gonna give a go at making one. I looked at it yesterday, a 4X4 in flat bar with a four 1/2in holes drilled into should work for the valves to poke thru. Two little holes for the two bolts, it should work. I don't have any injectors in the head, or the injector retainer. I'll let you know if this works or not.

I'm still trying to figure out if I should use my recip saw or my plasma torch on the intake plenum.

Cool, I need some cutting practise. The plasma torch leaves a rough edge and if I want to weld the plenum back on, it might be more work. A recip saw with a new sharp blade would be almost as fast. I don't want to get to carried away, I'm gonna try and repair the crack on my 24V. I was chatting with a guy about removing the valve guide (the one in bottom of port bowl) and moving it into the head some. You can open up these ports lots if you do some major surgery. I'll have to invite you guys over one day and show ya what cooking.

This isn't a cummins head, but it gives you an idea.

You should have no problem brazing it, just make sure you take your time and peen the weld often and also control your cooling effect with heat blankets or something that can cool the welds slowly.
