4500/5500 fuel tank

Any idea if the rear between the rails tank for one of the HD's will fit in a 3500? I haven't been able to find anything in online searches...

ps - not for my truck, for an 07 dually LB.

the frame width is different. I have to work on one in a couple weeks for a guy here in town that has a 2011 4500. will measure it and post my findings for ya. ORRRR if we could get Colo River Ram to crawl under his and measure his. I was thinking the same thing on thursday. Buddy had his service bed off his truck painting it. should have taken a tape to it that day.

if its anything like the F350 - 450/550 deal. No they are not. the cab & chassis 45/55 trucks have a narrower rail width.

I'm 1/2 way down that same path with my truck. I put the 450 diffs under my 350, had to move the springpads out on the diff. I have the 450 rear tank to put in my rear frame spot. I'll have to remove/move 1 crossmember likely. but it should go pretty easy. as I have 3" extra to play with in my frame than the frame it came out of.

I have a 2011 3500 chassis cab and the B&W gooseneck hitch needed to be modified to fit the 34 inch frame. If the hitch needs changing I would think the tank would be out too.
You can find the dimensions on the Dodge Body builder guide.

The links on that page just will not work with my computer. Not sure why.

Is it possible those links are dead links??? (where it says select year... none of them work for me)

Inside of the c-rail frames is 27 3/4".. F-R between cross members is aprox 36", The tank fills through the frame at the back.. The tank is aprox. 15 " tall, the part of the tank that is bellow the 34" frame wraps around the frame rail and is aprox 33" wide.

I can get you some pics and more dimensions in the daylight tomorrow if needed..

The browser can load PDF but can't link within the PDF document and I only got it working with Safari not with Firefox.
You perhaps have to quit Safari and restart or restart the computer that Safari finds the plugin.

So width wise, not a problem. Length wise possibly?

So it sounds quite doable... Maybe you could continue to give us updates? Maybe document this change as it shounds quite interesting???

In a gasser 2009 hd right now. Think it is the same tank. Got a bunch of tank measurements I can share later if anybody wants. One dimension to check on the diesel now (distance in frame towards tailgate) to see if the fit is close.

Might just work out.
