3G Turbo Interchange?

Hey fellas-anyone know what the difference is between the 305hp and 325hp turbos? My cousin has an '06 with a failed one (huge shaft play, pushing oil down the exhaust pipe) and I'm trying to find him a used one to replace it. I know Chrysler lists different part #'s-but I'm not sure what the differences really are.

Thanks
Jason

I think the 06 turbos have an electronic wastegate.

03 04 have a he341 which is smaller and lacks the electronic wg. Somewhat equal to the hy-35 found in 2nd Gen autos. The he351 found In 04.5 and up is. A better turbo. It's a 60/60/9 I just put one on my 2nd Gen. Good luck finding a good used one. Took me a cppl months.
Cumminsforums always has some though.

Ya I was thinking that just didn't type it.
The 06 should actually have a he351 cw.

There you go-learned something today. Think I may have found a couple prospects on the internet. A reman retails for $2200 and change exchange through Chrysler-might be worth more than the truck is..... I had a quick look on ABD this AM-maybe take a longer look now.

Kevin, I dug that ECM out of the parts boxes for this engine finally. Did I tell you I have a real good, but real short memory? As near as I can tell from the #'s, it's an '03 HO MT version. I have no idea whether it's good or not-it was supposed to have come off a running engine, but I can't confirm that. I was thinking of hanging onto it as I was contemplating a CR swap into my truck-I apparently wounded my engine here a couple weeks ago when I stuck it in a slough trying to change charts but it's looking like a real project to make the ECM and PCM talk to each other-so I may revert back to a VP engine rebuild.

here is the link, looks like it has a little damage, on the intake cover, but that could be swapped or may not even affect anything

Thanks for the link Nick-I will drop him a line. Kinda looks like the intake impeller has some nicking on the forward edge of the blades in the one pic he has there-I'll see if he can clarify that.

We'll see about the P-pump-I still have a couple of mad-science ideas running through my head involving electronics. Need to start accumulating parts I guess.....I really didn't need another project on my plate right now. I have this '06 sitting that needs to get gone, an '02 I bought for a project, my old GC to fix & sell, etc., etc., etc. Hoping that this engine will hang in for a while yet. Even kicked around buying something new to me-Drum Chrysler has an '07 MegaCab dually with a stick sitting on their lot. But I haven't had vehicle payments for 3 years now, and really have no desire to go back there again, especially for something that will just get used to pull trailers and back up my work truck. Plus there's a lot of sentimental value in the old girl-1st and probably only new one I will ever have barring winning the lottery-I actually ordered this truck to get exactly what I wanted.

Whats the scoop on the 06 Jason? I have my eyes on an 04.5 3500 4x4 Laramie that was abandoned at a dealer here. Blown motor, warranty restricted because of no maintenance with only 67K miles on it. Block is toast.
Its almost identical to my 04 I had and I can get it for next to nothing.
Just waiting on Bank of America to release it to the dealer so I can do something with it.

Put in a 6.7L with a ebrake. Would be a sweet set-up, lots of work. I've been thinking about doing one, one day..Maybe on my next rebuild/make over.

Why rebuild, your truck is still brand new? Drive that motor into the ground prior to rebuilding. I have a low miles 01 short block if you need an engine. I'm still driving the VP off that motor, I installed it almost 2 years ago. A camshaft and fresh head is really all you need. A fresh VP would wake her up as well. Mines getting weak, but it still starts. Thankfully they are cheap, alot cheaper than those new trucks injectors and more better realible than CP's.

P pumping, I don't know. No body really drives a conversion truck. Most are play toys.
