300hp do i need trany work first
ranning my 95 with a auto in it. i want to have more get up and go . i am thinking of putting a set of lazer cut d valves in it . and a 4" inch and get rid of the stock air box and timing up some .... but will a stock trany like it ??? i drive this thing 300km a day its running from 7am to 5pm so i need my truck ...
I tried, mine lasted about 6 months. I killed the stocker with 287whp/774tq.
If its still good just throw in a good converter and a good valve body and it should hold it no problem.
You also dont drive like me so it might hold 300 a little better then mine but anything over stock and your living on borrowed time!!!

It will work long enough for you to get mum on side so you can buy a replacement tranny. Its only parts. Its easier replacing stuff when its broken. Luck you, there are lots of good decent options on rebuilt tranny to take that little bit more power.
If you want the stocker to last abit longer go with a aftermarket TC and valve body, only if your tranny is still in decent shape. Stock was barely enough holding force, Forget 300rwhp and 700 ft*lbs. You're probably running a RH46. If you don't tow you might get more life out of it. You could always go with a five speed and forget about the tranny issues. You're only about 700rwhp short of a 10second daily driver.

Yup.. My father-in-laws 95 just had the tranny done. With just a #10 plate and 3KGSK it killed it in a long painful death, estimating around 230 Hp. He got the rebuild with billet converter and made a world of difference. To go to 300 Hp, you would have to spend a few more bucks on a heavy TC and good set of internal clutches. Closer to 500, billet shafts. $$$$$$$
what kind of money was it worth ?????

Wink, if you're going all out in the HP department and running big wheenies, you'll need a tranny like like mine. That's on only way it will last. I think Fred paid around $5k for a built up goertang with everything inside. Mine was around $7k, plus 700 for billet flex. If you don't mod too much there are more cheaper options out there. Back 7 years ago, you had to live with tranny with out billet parts and a slightly modded TC. Today, there is tons of options. Do some web surfing, you might even find a smoken deal. You thinking about putting on a exhaust brake?
A basically stock tranny with a few more clutchs inside the first clutch pack and the OD is enough for 400rwhp/900ft*lbs. A hi pressure line pressure valve body and aftermarket TC is also required. You'll get probably 200k out that tranny, if you don't beat on it too much.

Well I paid 4800 after the dust settled, I will be making that trip to Iowa for any diesel I ever purchase. I have not regretted it for a single second since I went and got it.
Just having the sense of security knowing I can beat the life out of all 359 cubic inches of that motor and still be able to make it home made it more then worth it in my books.

I just stock overhauled my 47rh for this conversion but put in a billet DTT converter and full meal deal VB, with billet apply lever and anchor. Soooo we'll see how it holds up. you guys'll be the 1st know when it tanks.
Local shop in my town here R&R'd the tranny and did the complete rebuild with converter for $3K. I pressured the heck out of them, but they would not tell me their TC supplier...???
Fred, I thought that you're babing the ride the last time I saw ya. If the tranny survives Fred big right foot, it should be one tuff tranny. I just baby mine, so it probably falling little pieces on deer footie one day. If you can do the rebuild yourself, it shouldn't be to expensive. Most of the parts are available and cheaper than buying one built. If you don't toast the tranny most of the expensive parts should be in decent shape still. For under 400rwhp, stock shafts are ok for most of trucks. Just put in an aftermarket TC and valve body. I have a broken intermediate shaft if you want?
