2nd or 3rd gen?

Buying another truck, cannot decide which one. I've had a 01 and just had a 04. Both were great to me, but I can't decide which model to get this time. I am leaning towards 2nd gen because of the price I want to spend. And maybe it's just me but there seems to be less issues with them? I know both of the autos are crap, I want a standard.

Depending on year/miles/shape I want to spend anywhere from $8k-13k or so. I know i'll be looking at around 180-250km or so, but not really concerned about that many miles.

What do you guys think? Going to the auction next weekend, probably will just pounce on either if it's a really deal though. No plans for mods really I don't think. Just a truck to drive for a year or two while i'm building my house. If I really like it might keep it after and mod it up.

But i've got to say 95% of trucks on kijiji the sellers are on crack. I cannot believe most of the prices......Probably why they've been for sale for so long. I sold my 01 with 310km on it for $14,500 4 years ago. No way in hell I am paying anywhere close to that for a 01 now.

Hah what I ment was which one am I less likely to have issues with? The CR is starting to scare me a bit with so many have injector and blow by issues. Doesn't seem very common on the 24v. Just the crappy lift pumps that kill the injection pumps. I mean, my 24v was flawless at 310km and so was my CR but it only had 140km on it.

Or maybe someone would point me to a nice know they know of for sale

I know i'm bad I can't make up my mind

I suggest you buy a different brand and go to another site to complain.
Then sell the truck and come back with a real truck and a better attitude.
J/K kind of.

LOL

Most women complain less then you. Have the doc check your hormones too.

Sorry man...er woman, after reading many of your cynical posts about pretty much everything, I just had to give you a jab and an upper cut and a left hook.

Hah I figured so.

Think i'm set on a second gen though. Something around $8k would be nice. Gives me more money for a house, plus I really miss the 2nd gen in a lot of ways. So much less electronics BS to!

Need a diesel again soon.....can't stand driving this frickening jeep! Feels like i'm sitting on the ground

Go for the 2nd gen. They're noisy, they stink, and they're kinda ugly.

They match my personality (s) to a tee, so that is why I drive one. And yeah, lift pumps were junk, (currently running a walbro setup) and VP44's weren't much better ( 6 in 230,000 km, mostly due to crappy lift pumps) Other than that I have done maintenance stuff, rebearing on the rear end, updated the steering parts as needed, and did rear brakes and seals when the pads delaminated. at 250k I am still on the stock clutch and front brakes.

Hard to beat that.

The truck has worked every day of its life so far, and I don't see that changing anytime soon

I vote for either a 2nd gen or a 4th gen. I just put 1200 km on the 2010 truck this weekend pulling my RV out to Saskabush family rebellion. First time for me both my wife and kid fell a sleep, so I can listen to my music. The 3rd gen in awesome truck as well, just the SBbox is too small for my quad. Thats what matter the most to me when picking a ride.
