OK. I have hunted, but so far unsuccessfully for an engine rebuild manual on line. If anybody has one, please let me know. Dodge no longer sells them for that year of truck, and Cummins wants $345 for it. I'd really rather spend that money on the engine (which as yet i don't know what it needs - besides some major "fixing").

What major fixing does your truck need??

 

Need? Not sure. Guy I bought it from was told rings by the mechanic. It has pretty good blowby, and is spewing lots of unburnt fuel out the exhaust. Turbo needs a rebuild too. I'm just pulling the engine to evaluate the situation and either rebuild or replace. If there is nothing too major I'll fix it. Otherwise... we'll see. It's probably going to be october before I can really dig into it though due to work and holidays.
