Throwing code P049D-Aux Emission Control
Hey Fellas
CEL came on, stopped at auto zone to see if they could tell me what code came up. Showed P049D, Auxilery Emissions Control. Tried a search and looking back through old posts and didn't see anyone else with this issue. Anyone else come across this? If so, what was the outcome? Light went off same day but is now back on. Called dealer and they weren't much of a help.
Truck is 2011 srw mega 4x4. No mods under the hood.11,000 miles. First issue so far. Any help is appreciated before I have to make an appt at dealer. Thanks

I found its actually EGR control position exceeded learning limit. Whatever the heck that means. Found a different site with a guy with same code that ended up needing EGR replaced. What gets replaced with an EGR replacement? Hopefully its not too complicated. Can't really be without a truck at all, need it for work every day.
Guess I'll call dealer tomorrow and get it in. Just curious if anyone had this or knew if it was a serious issue or not. Should just do the deletes and get rid of all that crap. Just haven't had time to do it yet.
I am all about the deletes. If you remove your EGR and just look inside the pipe you will easily convince yourself to delete. Clean running diesel is much better that a fire breather. Take your 50k dollar investment and make it last.
But, as others recommend, letting the truck work the bugs out 1st is also a good idea.

I had that code at around 24K miles and the outcome was the dealer replaced the EGR. In and out in 2 hours. Prior to the CEL had slight turbo lag at take off. Have 34K miles now and no issues. Go get a new EGR- compliments of Ram.
I had the same code at roughly 8000 miles. Mine is a business truck too but I am a business link member and any time my truck is in the shop my dealer gives me a truck to use. Works out well. They replaced my EGR too.

Just an update. Egr was replaced under warranty. No issues and had it in and out in a few hours. I was undecided on the business link and it wouldve been nice to have the dealer give me a truck to use while getting mine fixed.
Gonna do the deletes soon after reading how everyone else seems to love there truck that much more with all that garbage gone. Then atleast I won't have this issue to worry about again.
