A proposal for anyone in CO with a 4th gen dually
So, you probably have heard about this test (posted elsewhere here):

Well, we were snubbed. The excuse that "Dodge isn't rated for 27,000 lbs gross so it wasn't invited" just doesn't hold water. Just because that's what the Chryco attorneys say it's rated for, doesn't mean it can't safely and reliably move that much weight (flame-suit on).
So here's my proposal, would somebody with a 2010 or 2011 3500 dually Ram please go out there to Dillon, CO and repeat this test? It would seem pretty easy to do. It just a WOT run up I-70 from Dillon to the Eisnerhower Tunnel with a stopwatch. Granted, finding a 19,000 lb trailer might be difficult, but other than that, just jump in and film the run and post it on You Tube for discussion when you're done.
Interestingly, the Chevy spanked the Ford by like 2 minutes (~25% faster up the hill!). Personally, I think the new Rams would give the Ford a run for it's money- engine ratings be darned.

Would be a great test to see the results on.
I hadn't seen that test before. Seemed like a fair comparison that tests the trans, engine, and exhaust brake features. I would have like to seen what coolant and trans temps were at the top, I bet warm!
Its amazing that LD pickups have GCWR's that high, as that's CDL range.
I thought the purpose of that test was to determine last place..We all know Dodge is #1 on this site

Here is a pic of my last run over that "Little Bump" with the 05, The trailer loaded was about 10K... The only thing that slowed me down was the gassers who would not get out of the way.. (Topped the pass in OD both sides)

2400R's @ 75 with the stock 265's.. I just did a 750 mile trip to PHX the first 100 miles was in 4x4 over a 10K icy pass, the second part of the trip was up-hill and the third down-hill from Flagstaff to PHX (the overhead lie-o-meter was showing 30 on that section
).. I averaged over 20 (by hand) on all sections of the trip.. I'm happy

Here's an option on your 7 spd tranny AH64,
Do a 3 speed transfer case.. low range, std and a 25 % OD this would require lock out hubs off coarse.. This set-up would give you a low/low to back the heavy trailers into a tight spot with and a double/double OD on the road when your empty.
