PO26A Charge Air
PO26A Charge Air
So got home and used my scanner and pulled up the code po26a charge air below threshold,so what causes this? I have a fairly large bumper on my pickup and have never had a problem with it before. The bumper it self has a bunch of air vents in the bottom,as well as it is mounted lowerer so it has a gap allowing more air In. Should I be concerned? Or was this just a fluke deal?
Charge air is the air in the intake manifold that has been compressed by the turbo, this air pressure is read by the charge air temp/pressure sensor in the intake manifold, single screw to remove. They can become plugged very easily and it seems the manual trans trucks appear to be worse than the auto ones. A new sensor costs about $50 if it can't be cleaned.
I would take it out and have a look at it first, I used brake cleaner on mine but my sons manual truck was so bad I couldn't get it cleaned up and had to replace it.

Here's a update, the code came back and several trips to dealer scanning and guessing and not listening to me I finally convinced them the fan clutch was bad. Low and behold I was right the fan clutch was shot and working half throttled dragging, and coming on when it shouldn't and not when it should. Then I also found the sensor on the intake tube behind the air filter was loose and falling out, after replacing both of those the trucks back to its happy self. It's so weird to not hear the fan clutch running all the time driving around, now I have to deal with this recall about the frame cracking and a blown speaker.
