Locking tailgate

I've read somewhere about adding an actuator to the rear tailgate to allow locking and unlocking with the key fob when I ran across this....

That is a great add-on, should be standard on the Laramie's and Longhorns. Probably the first thing I'll do to my 2012

I just ordered one to. It says that it should be shipped on the 30th. I've ordered a couple of things from this place. Their prices aren't so bad. Now if this Hurricane doesn't destroy my house and truck I'll be looking forward to installing it....

that would be nice....except then you need a 2nd truck and all the fun parts for it as well...since we all know your clone would be just like you and want it all on his truck

I installed mine last week. It took about an hour. Works great. There is a difference in the supplied instuctions. The instructions have the wrong colored wires listed. The harness comes with a black and red wire. So the red wire goes with the Tan/Light blue wire and the black goes with Tan/Dark blue wire. Here is a link that has picture by picture install. The directions are very good (other than the mislabeled harness wire colors.)

my dealer quoted me 3+ hrs for the install. Is it really an easy DIY mod?

no changes to the keyfob programming?

If your handy the instructions I posted are color step by step. I didn't use the soldering method for the wiring. The bracket was sort of a pain to put in but over all fairly easy. No there is no programing at all. If you need any help you can pm and I'll help any way I can.....

just make sure that you see in the directions that 2010 and 2011 are different as far as wire location (connector location) in the TIPM. like NB said, the bracket was a PIA (get a 1/4" drive universal with short 8mm and a 6" extension to make life easier
