Getting to the rear camera

The rear camera in my 2010 3500 doesn't work. Hasn't since I got the truck. The lens is cracked.
I found an oem replacement cam only, at dodgeparts.com for $186. My dealer said $385 for the cam and new tailgate handle. So i'll go with just the cam.
So I have 2 questions.
#1. Is the oem cam decent or is there an aftermarket cam that is better?
#2. How do you remove the plastic cover from the top of the tailgate to get to the bolts and backside of the cam? I know how to remove the push pins inside the gate but there are some clips that come from the top that i can't see.

Plastic cover stays on. Access is gained by removing the torx screws from the cover plate opposite the handle. Lens is held in by a couple of screws. Very simple to swap out.

Thanks! I'd have probably broken a few clips trying to get to it that way
