Found my truck but has 4000 miles
Found the truck I want but the salesman has been driving it. Has nearly 4000 miles on it.
Listed for 55,800.00 got the guy down to 46,500.00 he then tells me that he's been driving it and it has nearly 4K on it.
Don't know if I wanna even go look at it now!!

(I'm a motorhome owner, and the last few I've bought have started out with about 2600 miles because they can't be trucked so are driven from Indiana where they're made, to the left coast - my last one developed an injector leak on that maiden voyage so when it got to the dealer I was buying it from, they sent it over to Cummins to get it fixed - saving me the hassle... A potential parallel to a salesman driving a vehicle for a few thousand miles)

If it's nice get it but pay as if it is a used vehicle. It will have scratches and possibly dings. My uncle was a car salesman and every demo he had looked great when he turned it in but if it was a 4x4 it went off road and if it was a sports car he drove it hard.

I wouldn't rule it out, but I definitely wouldn't accept it (financially) as new. If YOU drove it off the lot and put 4,000 miles on it, you would suffer the depreciation.
My brother paid $11,000 less for a brand new 3500. They should do much better than $46,000, if they want to move it.
4,000 miles is nothing to the truck, and I doubt they beat on it. It is fantastic leverage, though.

"Well, I believe I have struck a deal on a 2011 3500 4x4 LB Laramie CC. (6.7 Auto, 4.10 gears, SRW, Mono paint, clearance lamps, cold weather, snow plow prep, remote start, and parkview backup camera. MSRP is $53135 and I'm getting it for $48,131 which is $526 below invoice. Minus the $1500 Dodge rebate and the $500 Farm Bureau rebate it drops the price to $46,131. I hope that's a good price. I also received a "Complimentary 3/36 Maintenance" card in the mail today which is valued at $1600 for the 6.7 Ram trucks. Free oil changes, free scheduled and recommended maintenance, $35/day car rental allowance, roadside assistance, trip interruption coverage. Now we'll just have to see if they can get the truck built and to me before Nov. 1st when the offer expires...."
BTW, if it is a demo, the warranty should start at whatever mileage you purchase it at.......unless they have changed that from the old days.

Yeah, if the dealer has been driving it then the warranty starts when you officially buy it, but I believe that only pertains to the time and not the actual mileage. In other words, you will get a 3 year 32,000 mile warranty, IIRC. As for my deal the 2010's are better price wise (with $2,500 rebates), but I think mine was okay, especially since there won't be any dealer prep fees. As for the maintenance offer, Dodge is saying 8-12 weeks for a build time. I've called the "Incentives Dept" and they were nice but couldn't break any rules for me. I sent an angry letter to Chrysler and will see what they say.
As for you, was that $55,800 list complete with "underbody coating" and "pinstriping" and "wheel locks" for a grand? $46,500 doesn't seem too bad, though. As for the 4K miles, just have them throw in oil changes for a year.... Or wait until after September 7th and see what the new rebates are gonna be. I'm betting it'll be $4,000....
Checking Edmunds.com for mileage adjustments on a 2009 I see that they value 12,000 miles per year at only $500. So, I'd ask for $1,000 off, heh, heh...

Just a heads up on this matter. If you think the truck is not a good deal then buy one with no miles on it. People can make up ideas in there head as to how much a new car should be priced if it was a demo but the truth is a dealer still owns that car for the same price as one with no miles. They shoud give you a little better deal but don't go in there asking for silly money off. If your lucky they will work with you a little. Otherwise they should just find you one with no miles. I think a car goes from new to used at 4k miles as well. Good luck.

I tell you what, having my 2001 from new has saved me a lot of "what happened before" dilemmas. It is nice putting your own miles on a truck, especially since the first couple thousand are extremely important with regard to how the next 250,000 go....

Well I've got em to 10K off of list. They want to sell me an extended warranty. Any suggestions on those? What did you guys pay for an E/W?
Might be a moot point since I plan on doing some mods early on. DPF delete and such.
Also has a drop in bedliner. Might remove it and do the spray-in.
Maybe sell the drop in.
I have a 5th wheel hitch in my 96, may see if I can get the bed brackets mounted in this thing so I can swap the hitch between both trucks.
Is there anything to be concerned about when mounting a 5th wheel in a short bed?

I was in the market for a brand new 2010, before I found a used 2010 with
11K miles, fully loaded SLT and a B&W turnover ball. I paid $38,500 for this truck, but I had the same truck new at the dealer negotiated to $43,000, minus the navigation, which the used truck I purchased has navigation.

If it were me ......
Tell them you'll drive it home for 42k even because it's techincally used, and then have them change all fluids/filters, throw in 6 free oil changes, and have them do the spray in bedliner.

I'm personally not an E/W kinda guy. I think I've had one in my life and they always seem to be able to get extra cash out of you to fix anything, if they even cover it. I think the best way to get the truck is to just go in there and tell 'em: "Okay, 10K off list, which brings it to $45,800. That sounds good to me..... Out the door!" That way you get the truck for the price they quoted and save an extra few thousand on tax, title, license, doc fees, BS fees, etc. If they don't like it, give them your phone number on a piece of paper with the truck info on it and "$45K OTD" and tell them to call you when they get tired of having it sit there. Try to work off the OTD price so you are all on the same page and you know the final number and if they come back with something else, you can also start throwing things on like HMX-1 says. Call the Chrysler Incentives Department at 800-227-0757 and ask if you qualify for Program ID: 38CB4 which is the full 3/36 maintenance package offer. If you do, get the info, go to the dealer, and deal for 3/36 maintenance, spray in bedliner, and running boards. Then drop the 3/36 and see what they say. Then pop the card/info on the 3/36 when the deal is finished. Let the games begin....
