Back up camera
Back up camera
So I am putting a fifth wheel tailgate on the truck and want to retain the back up camera. I could take the one out of the factory tailgate but would like to get one and install it in the fifth wheel tailgate so when I switch the gates out in the fall I don't have to switch the camera around. I visited the local dodge dealer but all they have is a complete kit, camera, tailgate handle and complete wiring harness. Part # 82211184 for over $500.
Does anyone know of an after market camera with a wire harness for the tailgate that is compatible with the factory head unit?
Thanks for reading and any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

One option is to get the lockpick adapter from coastaletech.com. it will unlock factory locked features in your radio, but you will be able to run nearly any aftermarket backup camera (up to 4 or 5 cameras such as-front, rear, left turn, right turn, plus a baby cam or run one as a backup cam for the fifth wheel). I don't know if aftermarket cam will interface directly. As for recommending one, I have not purchased one, but was leaning towards getting the one listed on coastaoetech's website. Also check Mopar.com to see if you can find the part number for the factory cam only. For $500 you can get the lockpick and two or three cameras. Actually now that I think about, i'm fairly certain I saw the factory cam only listed on either Amazon or eBay for a decent price, new in box. Hopefully this gets you going in the right direction.

I seen on a site, I looked for it, cant find it now, where somebody took the camera out of his tailgate and installed it up on his third light, due to he made a flat bed on his truck to pull a gooseneck trailer. if you do some hunting you might it up, he did a heck of a good job, looked factory when he got done
